Has anyone ever put a 93-97 front bumper on a 98+ Camaro?
Has anyone ever put a 93-97 front bumper on a 98+ Camaro?
I was wondering if there was something that prevented a person from putting a '93-'97 front bumper, front quarter panels, and stock Camaro hood on a 98+ Camaro; is there? I was wondering why I haven't seen anyone who has done that. It is sort of like getting the awesome LS1 with the (as many people see it) more attractive front end. How hard would this be? Would a person have trouble mounting things like headlights? Would the '93-'97 hood fit over the LS1 engine? Or would the airbox be too high? What do you guys think?
I was pondering this because when I get another Camaro in the future (I'd like to have a blue one from '94 to '97), I was thinking that I would rather have an LS1, the better brakes, and the center console from the 98+ Camaros, but that would mean a lot of work. Why not just get a 98+ car and make it look like the '93 - '97?

ild say if you can do the opposite and change from 93-97 to 98+ the reverse would work just as well... unless its somethin with the airbox or engine like you said... never heard of anyone doin it but i agree i liek teh lt1 front end better
i had the option to convert to the newer model a few weeks ago.. had all the parts sittin in front of my car.. decided not to when i looked at the noses side by side lol

Yea, for real, I don't understand why so many people would want to put the newer bumper on! I think they just want less dated headlights, but I'm sure with enough money, some custom 1 piece LT1 headlights could be made if that is the problem. There is a Holden called the Calais which has headlights that could possibly fit on an LT1 Camaro for that matter

I also agree that the lt1's look so much better. I think the only problem you may run into would be the air box like mentioned. Other than that everything should work.
Re: Has anyone ever put a 93-97 front bumper on a 98+ Camaro?
After thinking about it, there are a few guys that have the ls1 air box set up on their lt1's. They had to do a little modification, not for sure if it was to clear the hood or just to get it to work. You could search the lt1 tech and find out.
Re: Has anyone ever put a 93-97 front bumper on a 98+ Camaro?
I remember some posts with the airbox on LT1's. There were some clearence issues with the radiator support, condenser, and hood. It was done but had to do some chopping.
Re: Has anyone ever put a 93-97 front bumper on a 98+ Camaro?
Dang, that's a real shame. I guess I will have to stick with getting a '93-'97 Camaro then and keeping the stock LT1. I don't want to have to pay someone to do a big process (because I certainly wouldn't know how to do it). Maybe I'll just have to move to California for a few months and have someone report me to Overhaulin' and Chip Foose can take care of it for me

That is something that I wish I would have done.
If it were me, I'd try it and see what happens........that is if I had to start over again...

Re: Has anyone ever put a 93-97 front bumper on a 98+ Camaro?
if the air box is the only clearance issue then just don't use the ls1 airbox. Simple solution.
This would definitly make a bit of a sleeper.

I bought my car in 99 - and the only reason I didn't get a newer LS1 is because I can't stand the look of the fishface front end.
Had I been thinking at the time I would have bought a 98 and simply done a front end swap with the seemingly endless amount of people that have a 93-97 and want the fishface.
Oh well, call it a lesson learned I suppose.
Re: Has anyone ever put a 93-97 front bumper on a 98+ Camaro?
Maybe its just me, but i have NEVER understood why people think an LT1 camaro looks better than an LS1 camaro. I think the LT1 camaros are ugly and old looking, the LS1's look much better. But maybe thats just me.
And no i do not own a LS1 camaro, i dont own any camaro.

Really though - plenty of people do the conversion to the fishface chrysler front end so.......I'm betting there are others that feel the same way.
That's why it would and can be a cheap swap if a person could be found that wanted the guppy eyes.
Re: Has anyone ever put a 93-97 front bumper on a 98+ Camaro?
Brangeta...If you get a '97 Camaro, it has the '98+ interior and rear taillights, so at least it would be closer to what you want. And, I think I'd have to agree that the '93-'97 Camaros look better than the '98+'s....on most days of the week at least. Now the WS6's, that's a different story. You should really just go with whatever car you can find in better shape/with lower miles...I wanted a Trans Am, specifically the '98+ model, but I found a deal I couldn't pass up on my '97 Z...Yes, it's slower but at least it sounds better, and the slowness will be taken care of soon enough, lol.
