Has any one seen these lights

Just found these and was wondering if anybody has heard anything about them.

http://www.autobarn.net/ledfoglamp3.html

I might get a set to try,on of my driving lights was knocked out by a rock a couple of days ago.
Might be a good headlight replacement depending on how bright they really are.

And you want to try a $120 set of PIAA's?

I think they will look pretty goofy down there to be honest with you.
They are sized all wrong. You will really need a set stacked on top of each other to make them look like they were big enough, and that wouldn't look too good. The size is just all wrong.

mm = ~inch
100 = 3-15/16
22 = 7/8
25 = 1"
42.5 = 1-11/16

I would be interested to see how bright they are - but I really don't know if they would be that good for you.

You do realize they are basically a "cosmetic" lamp right? While they will have significant output to be seen, not enough for function. It's basically like those LED's that go on the wiper spray nozzles. It uses 5 watt LED's for it's light source.

Yea when I went out to look and see how they might fit and look,I thought they might be to thin to look right.
Oh well guess I will check out the Catz lights like I wanted in the first place.

Just found them at this site for half the price.Might get a set to play around with just to see how bright they are and what else I might be able to do with them.

PIAA DENO-3 RED REAR FOG LAMP, 6 RED LED'S SINGLE LAMP # 19155
You probably don't want those.
That place is more expensive than the first place you posted.

Re: Has any one seen these lights

I currently have the 1LE deletes...have for a while...
But I do have a way to use both the deletes and have fog lights - but it is somewhat permanent = not cool.

I may go back with some fog's - but not totally sure.

I HIGHLY doubt they are using 5W LEDs in that design, I was thinking 1W LEDs.

I work/design with the High-Power 1W, 3W, & 5W Luxeon Emitters for work. That package size would not support the necessary surface area to disipate 50W of heat through convection/conduction. Trust me, I've got a 5W emitter on my desk mounted to a heat sink, and to get it to function at full-power while at room temperature the heat-sink is ~4" x 4" x 4" all fins.

If they are using the 1W emitters, and there are 10 of them, that gives them about 400 Lumens of light output; your typical headlight produces ~ 2500 -3500 Lumens of light output. To give you an idea of how functionally bright they will be.

The light source is a 5watt Xtreme White Wedge Bulb.

Re: Has any one seen these lights

The total output of the LED array (What they are calling the " 5watt Xtreme White Wedge Bulb") maybe 5W, but that thing does not have 12 5W emitters in it. If it did it would melt the plastic housing that it was in in about 10 minutes of operation. That's 60 Watts of heat that needs to be conducted away. I've got a light fixture at work with about 36 Watts of heat in it that is the size of of softball, and you can NOT physically touch it after ~ 15 minutes of operation W/O severe discomfort on your fingertips. It's about 180* F on the outside of the light fixture.

Cut the mass in 1/2 and double the heat; nuff said.

Re: Has any one seen these lights

Doing some more research and math, the LEDs used in that light are nothing more than the 5mm ones that you can buy on Ebay, if you crunch some numbers it works out perfectly. They are just using "binned" ones to match color and intensity and mounting them in a fancy reflector/housing.

They are good for looks, but not for illuminating anything on the roadway.
