harwood 2.5 inch cowl fittment question

I am looking at buying this hood from summit and was wondering how the fit is. It will go right to the bodyshop where my car is getting fixed and painted (drilled the wall at the track). If the fitis terrible I don't think I want to put them through the troubles. It is my friends shop.

thanks in advance
Adam

Re: harwood 2.5 inch cowl fittment question

the harwoods arent too bad about fitting, or at least the one i bought wasnt, but ill warn you in advance if you want a functional hood dont buy it. when i bought mine i thought it was gonna be functional until i opened the box after it came in... and a week or so later i found no one around here could open it up because its 2 layers of fiberglass that happens to have an inch gap between the 2 layers in the ram-air slot... im sure if i found the right person i could get it done and still have it look good, but no one around here was willing to attempt it.
p.s. its still a good lookin hood, get many compliments on it. i just regret that its non-functional

oops.. thought u said ram-air... well im sure its the same boat cause the cowl side is a giant v-shaped dual fiberglass layer back about 2 in. from the end of the cowl :-p

why dont you just take a jig saw to it or sawzall? I did that to a buddys harwood to make the cowl functionable. Drill you a hole where you start and then cut away. If I remeber correctly I used a jig saw, then under the hood I used a dremel. Then used the dremel again to clean everything up. I was nice and even painted it for him to. I get bored easly.

heh, read more carefully
anyways good luck with getting the hood man, you'll be really happy with it once you get it on there, the harwoods flow really well with the lines of the lt1 cars i think.

I got the 3" cowl hood from Year One. It is the H400 1993-1997 American Sports Car Design Cowl Induction hood. The outside looked real good but the underside looked like crap. It looked like they took the bottom of the stock SS hood and glued it to the fiberglass top shell they made. Also they didn't do any sanding after doing this. I had to do some major cosmetic work to make it look good. Plus it took like 6 weeks to get it. Funny thing is, I lived in Savannah GA at the time and Year One is in Atlanta, a 3 1/2 hour drive. Still took it 6 weeks.
