Re: Hard top for verts

Do you mean a cover for when the top is down, or a whole replacement fibreglass cover

A whole fiberglass cover. They do it for alot of other cars so figured someone might make it for Camaro. For example the 95 cobra Mustang vert I belive came with one. During my search for one used I found a company or 2 that made them.

I want to ask a local shop that does extreme custom work what they think just Im scared to hear what they think it will cost to have done. If I could find a 93-97 wrecked I wonder could I cut the top off and either have them use it to make a one off custom top using light wieght materials and the cut off hard top as a guide or I could have them them just fabricate the cut off hard top to somehow latch where the stock vert top would. The tricky part is figuring out how to connect the back. I cant remember for the life of me how it worked for the Mustang.

I forgot to mention that. The wieght if you fabricated a stock cut off hard top to fit would be horrible if not impossible to remove for some. I did mention in the first idea having one fabricated using light wieght material. Also to save wieght even more and to make it even cooler make it a t top. Man I really want to try this now. Yes the money could be better spent elsewhere but let's be serious, that can be said about any apperance mod. Nothing better than being one of the first to do or have something that's cool rather than being one of the many that did something that once was cool.

Re: Hard top for verts

yep that lightweight one-off woudl be your best bet, but ild still find a wrecked hard-top or a very courteous camaro friend to let them use their car to base it on (use same method as custom making a box for the rear hatch cover it in plastic ) but that would be cool.. fiberglass top to latch on... good luck with it and keep us updated if you take it any farther!

they should make one that folds up and fits in your trunk. Like t-tops but a full vert kinda thing.

Problem is that the coupe is a fast back not a hard top. So it wont work on the convert. That leaves you back at making a custom one off. You might be able to modify an existing top from a Miata or Corvette, not sure if it would be cheaper.

well itld be a better start than nothing, at least you could have the dome to where the pillars fall back.. but if you knew someone with the sport-back from rksport itld be great
