Got a Ticket need help!

Well I got pulled over for tinted windows I guess its illegal I got 14 days to take it off! The state cop told me that its a shame cause it looks real good on nice sports cars like mine!?!?

So How did I get it off? Is there something else besides a razor? Will I scatch the glass?

i used a razor on the side windows to get it started and peel the film off, then use glass cleaner and a razor blade to get all the adhesive off. dont use a razor blade on the rear window, b/c of the rear window defroster.

Or you can just pay the damn ticket. =) and leave it on, or redo it to lighter percent.

You might also try heating the film up first with a hair dryer to lossen it a little to help it "off".

I took my side tint off with a razor blade and lots of windex to keep the glass wet and it will loosen up the glue. You won't scratch the glass, just make sure the razor isn't nicked or anything and it shouldn't be a problem.
I know in NY you can pay the fine and keep the tint on. If the fine isn't too much, then just keep it on.

What did he use to test it or did he just tell you that it was to dark? I hate that. I had a ticket a few years ago and just payed it. Although if you look at it from their side it is what they consider and officer saftey issue, because they cannot see into your car on a traffic stop.

When I got my ticket in NY they used a detector thing that slides over the window.

A while back I think I remember reading about another guy that got a ticket for dark tints. He said he went back to the place that put the tints on and they gave him a receipt showing he had put leagal tints on. He then took the receipt to court and got off clean. Sounds like a plan to me.

This is how I got mine off:

GOO-OFF, Heat gun, and razor blade - and about 3 hours.

The trick is to take your time. Heat up the corners for the glass/tint to get some of the razor blade under. They start applying the GOO-OFF. Try to peel more with the blade. Once you find its still sticking, apply more hear, then goo, then blade...etc. It will come off, just takes a while. If you're worried about scratching the glass, just use a lot of goo-off. Sort of a "protective layer" between the blade and the glass.

Take you're time, and you'll do fine.

Milo.
