Gauge Bulbs?
Gauge Bulbs?
Sine I have a analog odometer on my 97 and I can't get an overlay for my gauges,I have decided to just replace the bulbs with some from LEDgauges.com Give the cluster a upgrade. They have a kit that would allow me to do this I believe. Kind of looking at the White LED kit. Has anyone done this? Thanks
Do a search and you should get alot. But, the stuff at LEDguages is great...however if you want to save a few bucks, go to ebay and do a search in ebay motors for 194 LED bulbs. Very inexpensive and work the same. I did mine in blue, check the sig. The 4 bulb is what I used but they have a 5 bulb that has all the little bulbs spread out. That one is better.
Hope that helps

Yeah, just get 194 LED bulbs. I got the bulbs pictured below in red and my cluster looks awesome, absolutely no problems. The way these 5 LED's per bulb are set up, the light up the whole cluster beautifully and evenly without any hotspots.

Thanks guys,I'l check them out. By the way Megalis that gauge looks sweet. I was thinking about Red since my car is red,but think that the white may look better. I believe I need 7 bulbs?

Yeah those should work just fine. That price is good. No you only need 5. IF you want you can change the high beam indicator then it will be 6. My friend got the whites in his cluster. They have a very faint hint of blue to them. Look very brilliant and clean. They are great ...especially since he has a white car also. Just a thought, since you're at it why not change your map lights and hatch light to LED's too? Get whites for those also. If you have an 00-02 the map lights are 194's (and do not get anything larger than a 6 bulb led cuz if it's bigger than that it won't fit) and 98-99 are 212-2 (they look like a fuse). The hatch I believe is 212-2 also in all years. On the 212's you can get 9-18 cluster and you'll be fine, the more the better. Your car will look like a little club at night!
I can send you a complete write up with pictures on how to do the cluster. if you want it let me know. laterz

You might try some NRauto gauge faces. They're awesome quality and most of the supporting vendors on here sell them. They make them for the 97-98 Camaros but the only down side is you have to remove the needles to install them. Here is a link to my 97 dash swap and it has a few pictures of them.

As for the LEDs i suggest just getting the single bulb wide angle 194's from superbrightleds.com. You might need to purchase some bulb bases but they can be bought at autozone for about $1.50 a piece.

Z95m6,
I have an analog odometer in my car,no digital. That's why I can't get any kind of overlay.
Megalis,
I would appreciate a write up when you get time.
Sylvania shows 212-2 for the map and 562 for the trunk/cargo?

And the 212 for the map lights is definately an error, trust me on 00-02 they are 194's I will bet the farm. It's what I have in mine. If you have a 98-99 then they are 212's. I am emailing you the write up.
I think 562 and 212-2 might be the same. Do a search on ebay for 562 bulbs, but check mark the little box that reads: "search in descriptions also" because many times bulbs have different #'s but it's really the same thing.

As for LEDs i suggest grabbing the 9 bulb 44 x 10 mm LEDs Festoon bulbs from Superbrightleds.com, you'll need 2 of them. Then if you want the best way to do the rear cargo light i suggest buying their T10-PCB-W24 White LED Lamp. Here is a pic.

I have one of these in my rear dome light and its awesome. It just takes some minor modification to make it fit. You just have to remove the old light which unbolts. Then if i remember right you just have to grind a little notch in the housing for the light to sit in. Here is a little ghetto MS paint picture showing how to do it. It makes a world of difference as far as lighting goes.

I got all my LEDs at superbright and they have all kinds so you can do just about any project. I put one of those LED panels in place as my tag light. So now its like i have a mini drop light under my car.
Also if you want to do your door panels and A/C controls those are #74 led bulbs.

lol. I don't plan on doing much research on the subject unless you post some pics of your cluster. So i can see if there is any difference. You could also buy a digital cluster and get some overlays. The digital cluster will plug right in and work with you car.
My cluster looks the same as any other digital one, except my odometer is the wheel type,so it's not as big as the digital odo. I will try to get some pics. I was told awhile back that I couldn't do an analog to digital odometer swap, something about relays or something. Besides, what's the odss of finding one with my current mileage.

I see what you're saying now. The gauge covers the gauges, not the odometer? If you could find out anything,I would appreciate it.Thanks
