Front bumper paint removal..

I am in the process of trying to repair some paint work on my car and need to remove all the paint off the front bumper of a 95 TA. It seems like the bumper has been repainted once and the remnants are cracking (spiderwebbing). How can I strip the paint? Chemical, Sandblast, Sandpaper...? Has anybody attempted this? There has to be a safe way to strip that urethane.. thanks!

I'm a painter, so i know how long it takes to sand all the paint off, so i cheated a used a bumper paint stripper. Do not attemped this for it caused more harm than good. First off it didn't work except wrinkled the paint a bit. So i ended up sanding it all anyways. Then the worse part is some of the chemical worked it's way into the bumper, so when i primed it it bubbled and lifted the new paint. Just sand it all down and prime the whole thing.

Sand blasting will damage the rubber bumper cover, chemicals could potentially also. Improper sanding could leave you with a wavy hunk of crap. Your best bet is to find a shop that can do walnut shell blasting (try checking under sand blasting in the yellow pages, most of the commercial blasters have a multitude of media at their disposal). The walnut shell media is hard enough to remove paint, but soft enough to not damage the bumper cover.
