Exclamation front air dam?

I have the xenon body kit.. but when it gets really hot when i'm driving at highway speed the temp of the car goes up.. i know its cause of the front air dam dont letting enough air through.. so has anyone fixed this problem or even made a whole through the front airdam to get to the radiator cutting out a piece of the Styrofoam the size of the vents..

don't cut the styrofoam. it'll screw up the way the air runs and it won't help unless you totally seal off the area where the air feeds through now.

you can either buy the front dam that is made for your kit from one of the appearance sellers like wings west, xenon, or RKSport. Mine is a wings west version, costs $70, and works fine.

Some people attach stiff rubber siding to their stock air dam on FRRAX. Check out their site for pics and how to's.

That's my car. I used to have the same problem as you. If you look at the picture, you can see the airdam that I made. You can buy the metal from Lowes. It's about 8 feet long or so, which gives you plenty of length to do three layers for added strength. It's bolted onto the existing airdam. Once I put that on the car, I never had an overheating problem since...well at least as long as I'm moving.

did u make that front air dam piece.. i have the xenon front air dam i dont think i would be able to that to mine... i thought a simple solution would be cut out small vent where that car has its styrofoam about the size of the vents.. so at least it would get some air...

um...heres my $ .02, i know that SLP makes a fan control switch that lets you turn your factory fans on "high" when ever you want, i dont know if that would solve your problem, but it helped my cooling problems out.

Yeah, I made it. Like I said, it's just a piece of galvanized aluminum from Lowes. It's already got that 45 degree bend in it which helps scoop the air into the radiator. It's over where the gutters and crap are. Shouldn't be too hard to find. It was about 8 bucks for the metal and a dollar or two for some nuts and bolts. All in all, it took me about a half hour to make. Be sure you have tin snips to cut it with. PM me tomorrow to remind me and I'll go take some pictures of it so you can get a better idea of what I did. It's dark right now otherwise I'd do it tonight.

Just to make sure your clear on this, we're not talking about the FX front add-on piece, we're talking about the air dam that's under the car. it blocks the air and forces it up into the rad.

Yeah, you could pay 65 bucks + shipping for that or make one like I did for ~10 bucks. I'll have pictures this afternoon when I get home.

Again, DON'T cut the styrofoam.

The cooling system depends on that area being closed. If you cut it open it'll misdirect the airflow. The way it's set up is that the deflector directs air up through the radiator, past the engine, and down behind the air dam. The air dam creates a low pressure area behind it. That low pressure area allows the air in the engine bay to escape. With the air coming in from the front, it'll mess up that flow.

People have made it a front breather but they have to totally seal up that open area where the air dam is right now.

Also, for normal driving you should have no reason to have to order the manual fan switch unless you have a cooler thermostat.

Lastly, are we talking about the same thing when it comes to the air dam? Not the lip, the deflector piece underneath. The xenon piece should be huge compared to the stocker.
