flat hoods?

does anyone make a flat hood to fit the 93-97 birds?
i think my 94 would look slick with a hood that followed the lines of the car but didnt have those silly indentations with fake air vents.
any photoshop renditions would be welcome.

Re: flat hoods?

I agree. I wanted one as well to make a shaker cowl hood but I could never find one. A shaker hood with the stock hood would look retarded.

Re: flat hoods?

Cool, but does it shake???

That would have gone REALLY well with my new trunk lip spoiler, but that may be taking styling cues too far, why not jsut get a 79 ta at that point. Plus i think the body guy would kill me after all the hours he spent block sanding my suncoast WS6 hood

luckyxiii,
I'd contact VFN fiberglass, they should be able to do a plain flat hood pretty easily.

Perhaps you'd be interested in a plain flat hatch as well?

I've seen that hood before and it does not shake...its just a big hump in the hood to make it LOOK like the old shaker hoods...Would be cool if it was a real shaker but the way that one is it's just kinda tacky IMO

Re: flat hoods?

If your stock hood is steel like they are on Camaros you could just have it modified and smoothed out.

is this a task your average body shop could pull off?
and if so...any estimates on how much work it would involve?

How are you supposed to make them shake? The old ones bolted to the carb, but ours are fuel injected. Strap it to the intake? And if you really wanted it to shake, it would be a lot less work to just have the body shop take a cut off wheel to it and cut it out, smooth the edges and such. Heck, if the fiberglass is deep enough, you might be able to make a gutter to put on some weatherstriping and seal it up. I dunno..... I guess both options would take lots of work and fabrication to make it how you want it.

I would think any decent shop could pull it off. I would much rather have a modified steel hood than to buy a glass one that could be a POS. At least you know your modified stock hood would fit right.

Well i hope it goes well for you. I know the body guy i have do my work could do it for less than the price of an aftermarket hood. The only thing is that Glass hoods probably save you at least 10lbs but its no big deal unless you are a hardcore racer. I hate my glass hood, its a nightmare.

Re: flat hoods?

I believe suncoast creations in FL did make one that the shaker bolts on to the top of the intake and shakes. I don't see it on their site anymore though.
