firebird and camaro door panels interchangable?

I've got a 97 camaro. will Firebird door panels fit properly? Will the door panel match up where it meets the dash correctly? Are the door release handles going to need to be replaced? I know the window switches are different. Any other input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

They interchange. The mounting points may be a little different but they interchange. Search in the appearance section. One of the members swapped 2002 WS6 door panels into his 95 Z. Fits perfect with small modification to the mounting points and looks flawless. Can't wait to do it on my car....my door panels are ugly.

Window switches plug right in. The problem is in the mirror connections. Those are a bugger

Here are some pics...

Brent, how'd the install go. I'm getting T/A leather door panels out of a 99. I read Chuckys95's post about it and just wondering how your experience was. Also, did your panels come with the switches or did you get them from somewhere else? I need to pick up a set. Thanks.

Well, I had a little time one day and decided to do the swap since I had the panels laying around for a while. When I saw most of the screw holes didn't line up properly and some fabbing was going to be required I took them off and put my old ones back on... not enough time that day. I haven't revisted it again

My panels came with all the switches. I think shoebox has figured out the mirror wiring... all other connections plugged right into the TA door panels.

Sounds good. The fabbing part looks really straight forward. If shoebox figured the mirror stuff out, thats great because I'd definitely like to know whats up with that part of the install. Seems like this is the right time to do that "express up" mod for the pass. power window too while the panels are off.

Well I'll just have to get ahold of some T/A switches which should be fairly easy. Thanks for the response Brent.

Anyone have a good link for the power mirror conversion diagram that shoebox made? (the one that shows how to wire the firebird mirror switch into the camaro)

This link here has a link to the page, but it is bad.

Thanks!

I just changed mine. They are so much nicer than the camaro panels. No carpet on the lower part of the panel. More streamlined appearance. Overall, just a little bit more quality looking. Plus, they have the seperate tweeter speaker grille which I'm able to hide my aftermarket tweeter behind. Looks so much better than a hole in the door panel. Took about 2 hours total for 2 doors.

Nice find man...I just bought a set of '98 TA door panels for my '96Z, and I've been searching for the wiring schematic that Brent mentioned earlier in this post. This should be a great help, thanx. BTW, i still need to get the switch panels and i've seen a few on ebay for sale. It looks like all the 4 Gen TA/Firebird power window/lock switches are interchangeable, but some of them come with the light grey buttons whereas other have black buttons. Is it just because of the options that came with the original car, or are all did all the later model TA's (98+) come with light grey buttons on the switches no matter what the interior color was? Seems like a stupid question but i just want to doube check before i buy them.

The trim in the 3 peices look like the dark grey to me, aka ebony interior.

Would this conversion work on a camaro that had no power options? Mirrors are manual, locks, and windows. I am pretty sure the window cranks are gonna keep this from happening.

You have to find Door panels that came without the 10 speaker option. Which means find some early V6 convertibles.

Whats the problem with the mirrors? Different Switch? Why do you have to redo it? (Just confused) Im planning on swapping just the door panels from a Formula, any issues?
