Talking finished my ls1 front end conversion

I just finished the conversion of my front end from a LT1 to an LS1.... I think it came out pretty good aside from it not all being one color... But all the lines are straight, and everything went on fine, and all the parts were genuine GM parts...I just dropped it off at the paint shop this morning and should get it back by monday so Ill post some more pics up by then.

The pics are in the album labeled "wrecked car, new rims, new front end."

I'd be interested in doing the reverse - if I had an LS1..........wonder if the cost would be more or less the same?

Thanks for the compliment, well Ive spent a hell of a lot getting it fixed ang getting the parts... I guess it wouldnt have cost so much if my car hadnt had been stolen and wrecked ... but it cost me just in parts $1200, and thats all original GM parts(fenders, front bumper cover, impact absorber, headlights/foglights, and all brackets bolts and such)and I got the original SS hood for $700...you may be able to find a better deal if you dig for these parts, or if you go aftermarket, but I wanted all original, and I wanted to parts as quickly as possible so I didnt do alot of shopping around, I just called speed automotive and bought everything from them.

Well for one, I thought there was going to be alot of fabrication and such to do this conversion, but the truth is, its a very simple direct bolt on... I had a few complications due to the fact that my car was in an accident, so I had to have the repair shop tweak around with the bars that hold the impact absorber, and the impact of the accident also pushed my hood hinges back a little, but once they got that straightened out, it was a breeze! All the original bolt holes line up and everything... I have heard from some people to shim the fenders forward about a quarter of an inch, but I didnt have to... But seriously, you could tackle this in about a day or two if you wanted to... It is that simple. There are alot of bolts to unscrew and such, but as long as you take your time you should have no trouble. This is by far my favorite mod Ive done so far.. I hope to one day work up the courage to do the T-top conversion.

Thanks, Im pretty proud of it now that Im finally done.
about the HVAC overlays, No, Im not making them anymore. I wish I was, it was alot of fun designing those things. But once the moderators banned me from selling them on the for sale forums I really couldnt find anywhere else that I could sell them, so I stopped making them, and the last time I took my computer to the shop they formated my harddrive so I lost all my designs and sizing templates that were on the computer. I put so much work into them that I couldnt see going through all that trouble again if I have no customer base anymore.
About the cd/tape holder cover, Im glad you like yours! I still have mine in my car... I got alot of compliments on it, especially at night when I toggle on the light behind it and the Z28 emblem glows bright red. I remember making yours too...I think yours was one of the last ones that I made before I was banned from selling that too!

Well it would probably cost around the same if you were getting origianal parts, but it would probably be alot cheaper if you went aftermarket or used.

Great Job, I was one of the 1st to do the conversion on my 95 TA back in 99. I just bought a 94Z and thinking about doing it myself. I spliced the headlight wiring on the TA. Does that work with the Camaros too? On the TA, I used the stock impact bar but used the newer style foam bumper support. Did you go that route too. Later
