Neato!!! Is it larger or smaller, or the same size as the stock? Anyways, I'd prefer to keep the airbag, especially after one saved my life

Very nice though

That looks really good but is it legal to remove airbags from a car that came with them from the factory?

Once you buy the car, you can do whatever you want to it.

The only downside is that if my insurance company finds out, my insurance will go up

Sweet, did you get the horn working? If you did what did you do with the yellow airbag wire?

The horn works, both thumb buttons are hooked up to it.

I removed the airbag clockspring and cut the yellow wire in half and removed the clockspring from the top and the plug/wires from the bottom.

I have 100% zero intentions of ever putting an airbag wheel back in this car so it was a very easy descision for me to simply remove that stuff.

I am glad you guys like it, I really do!

Sell the airbag because you can get quite a bit of money from those things. To replace two airbags in a car costs in the thousands. Or just blow it up or something

The clockspring is the grey round piece behind the wheel with the two wires coming out correct? How did you get it off? I tried but mine wouldn't move. It has given me some problems too so be glad you took it off.

Can you just use a universal puller, or u need a special one?

Believe it or not, the pair with wheel only goes for around $80 on e-bay

It is a black and yellow piece in my car - has green/white wires covered in yellow heat shrink. Once teh wheel is off, all you do is remove the "C" clip from the steering wheel shaft and remove the clockspring.

I just cut the wires coming out of the back and removed it, I then pulled the remaining part of the airbag wires out of the bottom of the column.

Just remember to disarm the airbag system before you work on it - You can refer to a Tech Manual for the proper steps.

Most Autoparts Stores (Autozone, O'Reileys, ect) carry several different ones. As a good rule of thumb, just dont buy the cheapest one. Also, do not overtighten the two bolts that go into the wheel to pull it. Finger tight should be fine.

I already have my wheel on remember? No more airbag to blow up in my face. It sounds like your clockspring is attached differently than mine was, there was no C-clip on the shaft holding the clockspring. Either that or I am blind. Which is entirely possible, since I was incredibly eager to attach the Sparco wheel. By the way, you asked on another thread about the front end swap to an 98+. Everyone quoted you $1500, I did mine for $500. The difference for me was I waited a little more than 6 months to accumulate parts from junkyards, ebay, and this board. I even got all the parts already color matching because I was patient. It costs $1500 if you buy the parts in mass, from a dealer/f-body boneyard, and more if you have to paint it. There are tons of V6 wreckers that are NOT in f-body specialty junkyards.
