Finally finished my version of sequential taillights

I drive a 3rd gen and it has 4 running lights per side and 2 brake lights per side. So I swapped the 2 running lights over to brake lights so I now have 8 total brake lights + the third brake light. Now I've always wanted sequential taillights, but no one makes something quite like what I had in mind. When I hit the brakes, I want the bulbs to light up in sequence. I can adapt this to work with my turn signals as well but that project is next. I'll post a small video clip in a few hours once the final bulbs are installed. It was relatively simple, just designing it took forever. Just 2 ICs, 3 caps, 3 resistors, 3 relays. It looks totally unique and is safer (more bulbs and they flash). I'll post a schematic if anyone is interested.

Re: Finally finished my version of sequential taillights

Of coure I lost one transistor (forgot to mention 3 transistors in the list above) so I had to order it so there is a wait before pictures. It looks so nice right now, just one set of bulbs doesn't light. The biggest cost was the wiring harness. I had to get one from an old bird becuase I needed 4 dual filament bulb harness. Cost me a whole $15. Then $6 for the relays, $1.50 for two 4528 ICs, $2.25 for 3 TIP41C transistors, 3 caps and resistors for $1 or so. Took about an hour to install, but it would have been shorter if I had planned everything before I started snipping wires. Looks like this though:

[4][3][2][1][ ][1][2][3][4]

And lights 1-4 in steps everytime I hit the brake. The 3rd brake light and bulbs #1 light instantly so there is no delay or fender benders, etc.

Not yet, still waiting on the replacement trannies. I'll take a video clip when I'm done though!
