i'm looking to get a fiberglass hood for 2 reasons, 1 being that mine has a dent and a couple of chips in it, 2 being the fact that i like to shed weight, especially off the nose of the car,

Now i has heard that a stock metal z28 hood weighs around 50lbs? True?

the fiberglass hoods that i have found are around 19lbs, thats a good weight savings...........anyone weight the stock hood

 

I don't what year your car is but the stock 93-97 Z28 hood weighs 44lbs. with insulation.

 

the fiberglass hood is def a good way to shed weight, and a great way to add some looks to the car

 

my car is 2000, but yeah i bet its close to the 93-97 year....looks like i will save almost 25lbs, not bad

 

You could relocate your battery to the trunk if you are really concerned about weight up front.

 

Acually that was the plan for this or next weekend, whenever i get some free time.
