ff75 vs HIDs

Is there a considerable difference between HIDs and using Hella FF75s?

Can you put HID bulbs in FF75s or would you blind people?

I currently run Silverstars in the stock headlight assembly.

With my FF75 setup all my buddies I follow say my lowbeams seem like highbeams and my highbeams are insane. Stock bulbs in them. The LB's are even pointed down to stock lighting height. The HB's are pointed up more for back country roads.

Are those street legal? All i know is that a HID kit runs about 300-400bucks and it dosen't blind people.

They cost $35 a pair from ebay. With bulbs and everything. They are only 55 watts, so you can go bigger. Its not blinding anyone, just when I am driving behind them they says its brighter than most cars. They are adjustible left, right, up and down. I dont like any HID for LT1's, just dont look right IMO. Furthermore I am not paying $300 on headlights. Streetlegal I doubt it but I have had cops look at mine and you really cant see much of a difference since they are about the same shape and size. They can be toned down by pointing them differently.

I have rarely seen an HID kit that wasn't to the intensity that it was more blinding than the most amplified low beam LT1 halogen head lights.

You can put H7 Hid's in the FF75's, but the beam pattern will scatter very badly. If you want HID's, best bet is the Hella 90mm...which are round, and I don't particularly like.

The FF75's are quite ample IMO.

How badly will the HID beam scatter in the FF75's??? Is it not worth putting HID bulbs in FF75's??

I'm sure you checked and rechecked you lights alignment, but it sure sounds like they're off alignment. They should never be blinding to cars ahead or behind you.

Re: ff75 vs HIDs

They blind people because they don't have a proper headlight pattern. Headlights have a sharp cutoff on the top left (as seen from the driver's seat) of the pattern. FF75s are not legal to use as headlights.

Do you still have a Corsa on your car? I just put a Corsa on my car this weekend and it sounds kind of nasty with headers and an off road pipe. I was just wondering if you did anything to change the sound or not? i just ordered a cat to get put on it.

Re: ff75 vs HIDs

The PIAA HID 930's in my opinion would make great high beams. At 2 1/4" X 5 1/2" they are exactly the same size as the stock lights. They have only a 20* wide beam, so don't think they'd work as well for lows. I always thought a good compromise would be using the halogens for lows and the HID's for highs.

Go with Hella 90mm conversion... otherwise don't bother with HID
