Few pics of my silver T/A

I am the second owner and would you believe it has 140K orig. miles on it?
My future plans are to finish detailing the engine compartment (maxed out)and take it to some cruise ins and finish my exhaust and bolt-ons. It is my DD as of right now...

Beautiful car, definitely doesn't appear to have 140K on it.

Question!

I'm curious, how does it drive with that many miles on it? My LT1 only has 75k on it, and I'm wondering at what point it will need to be rebuilt. How has your car held up? Is it completely stock?

My car drives great for the mileage. The only thing I have done to the car that is non stock is add a hotchkis PHB, CAI and removed my a.i.r. and egr stuff. I plan on updating with an aftermarket catback and alot of engine bling later down the road.

The ride is pretty good still. The tires have 7K on them but the shocks are the originals and I plan on updating to a set of Bilstein HD's. I have been told it will make the ride much smoother. The car was owned by a mid-50s lady who just drove it to work and back and was very well taken care of. The steering has no slop in it and the bushings all still look great.

As far as rebuild....I have heard of some LT engines going 200K plus before needing a rebuild. Maintenance is the key. I just serviced the rear with royal purple and flushed my tranny with neew filter/fluids.

can't go wrong with ebay, just go to the ebay motors section and type "Camaro diamond" and you will get a few listings for some diamond clear lenses which I have on my car, they are nice and chrome-y.

What's a Hotchkis PHB?

If you don't have any internal components that have been changed like pistons or anything and it has that many miles on it, I think I should be safe. Do you drive it (1) gently like a granny, (2) speed off once in awhile, or (3) do you race it? I'm interested to know which of those. I thought based on age, my LT1 was due for a rebuild in 2 or 3 years, but if you aren't babying your car and it still runs fine, I don't have to worry.

We have Bilstein shocks on our SS, I forgot what type they are, they came on it from SLP with eibach springs. They don't make the ride smoother, they make pot holes feel like they are breaking your rear passenger's tail bone. I honestly don't suggest them in the slightest bit for a daily driver unless the streets are perfectly smooth. If the street is perfectly smooth, the car doesn't bound and rebound as often as the stock shocks on my LT1, so it's nice in that case.

We drove on a cobblestone road once last year in the SS, and it was so bad it was rattling our teeth, so I heavily don't suggest Bilstein shocks if you live in a bumpy area.

PHB = panhard bar

Thanks for the info...I was looking for some new shocks to soften it up because mine will knock the fillings out too..I daily drive mine about 70 miles a day during the work week and some of the roads downtown are brick and messed up. Thanks for the info. on the bilsteins. I am surprised because people have told me that it will soften the ride but depends on the tires. Mine are pretty new and the ride is better.

I drive mine like #2...never raced it but every once in a while I like to open it up some.
