Wink Factory 94 push button start......kinda

With a little help from my friends, namly RedIrocZ28 and Sinister Syclone, we finished up this little trick tonight. I was having problems with the neutral saftey switch and VATS, so in the process of bypassing some stuff, we hooked in a push button switch for the starter. The key is still required, but it is dead when you turn it to start. But if you put it to run position and hit this little button, she starts right up. I used the factory window switch and the factory harness, so it slips on and off without a problem should I need to remove the console. Overlook the hole in the shift pattern, that is where my fan switch goes. I will use a little paint thinner to remove the white paint from the switch, and it should blend right in. So what do ya think

And these ones are just cuz my car was looking pretty good today

cool idea, but why the rocker switch, why not use an actual push button?

I did the exact same thing. I have my convertable top switch on the left, factory, and put a dpdt switch on the far right for my low/high fans. I epoxied a stock fog light switch cover over the switch and painted it black, it looks factory. I put some led's in between but I did it just like you did.

Looks good. I did the same thing for my power antenna(sp?) disable switch and a low speed only fan switch. Just a little tip for anyone thinking about doing this. That little panel is available with both holes already cut, if you buy the one for a TA convertible with traction control. If you have the patience, all of those switches can be totaly disassemled. For instance that window switch that you need for the dual contacts could have a TCS rocker cover on it. Or any other cover you wanted. Get them at a salvage yard, they get pricey at the dealer.

It was actually really easy to wire. Just had to find a relay off the passenger side of the car. Run a few wires off of it to the switch. Look for my post in the LT1 Tech section, Slorodrieguz (sp?) helped alot with the wiring. Hardest part was when my buddy filed the hole with a file so it looked good. Used a dremel to make a test hole, then filed from there. It helped having the factory pigtail from the window switch to use. Makes it a good connection, with easy removal.

Yeah the newer console has either a cubby hole there or the switch cover for a convertible button or TCS. I actually have a cover plate for a pontiac with the pontiac emblem on it. In case your looking for one.
