Fabric Paint?

I'm not sure where to post this, but I'll give it a shot here. I'm about to start my T-Top conversion, and I have all the pieces, but the headliner that I have is the wrong color. Now before you say "Why didn't you buy the right one??", I got this one for FREE from a friend who has a fiberglass one with screens and stuff. She didn't need it, so she gave it to me. It's the light grey color and my interior is graphite. I was wondering if there was any fabric/upholstery spray paint? Anyone?

No one has any info on this? I know I've seen at least one article, but I searched and couldn't find it.

Re: Fabric Paint?

Yes, there is fabric spray paint/dye.
For a headliner - it will be fine as far as color and such- but I am not sure what it will do to the glue. It may make it turn loose - but you never know until you try.

Anyhow - the stuff is available at any parts store.
O'Reilly sales VHT which has a Charcoal Grey color available which I think is pretty close - but there are others I am sure that match. There is one that matches exactly I believe - maybe someone will post. You probably would never know the difference though on the headliner - it's going to be really close if you test a spot and make sure that it looks fine.

94BlackBowtie - I thought I saw some of that stuff before, I just wanted to make sure. I'm not worried about the glue coming loose. If worse comes to worse, I'll just have it recovered. I don't really want to do that right off hand because I'm out of cash and I'd like to start working on the conversion soon! Thanks again!

Re: Fabric Paint?

Any spray fabric dye will most likely turn the foam into a crunchy mess. Save yourself the cleanup and just re-cover it with new headliner material and 3m spray adhesive.
