exterior badges

did MBA ever come out with the stainless steel emblems they were supposedly working on, i just did a search on them and i saw that last november Ernster500 posted that he'd contacted MBA to see if they'd produce em and they said they were already working on it. here it is a year later and i dont see em on their site (not even in the new products section). i dont want the RKSport ones cause i hear they are a little different and i want an exact replica just in polished stainless steel. any updates?

Hey Devin...I asked the same question of MBA on 25 November and have not received a response yet. Below is a copy of the e-mail I sent them.

Dear MBA

I saw on the forums at www.Cameroz28.com about a year ago someone said they asked you if you had any brushed aluminum Z-28 badges. Your reply was that you were working on a design but had not finished it yet. So I'm asking if you have any now? I'm looking for a Z-28 badge to replace my stock badges. They are black and the car is a dark blue 2002 Z-28. The badges are barely visible, so I bought some silver reflective overlays. They look great contrasted against the dark blue of the car and I think add alot to the looks of the car. The ony problem is the overlay is curling up on the ends. Its not peeling, just curling up because the overlay is cut slightly longer than the length of the badge. I think a brushed aluminum replica of the stock 4th generation Z-28 badge with the thru lines painted black...or painted the color of the car would look sharp!! I would be very interested in purchasing a set of three to replace the stock badges on my car. If I cannot find any I'll stick with the overlays as I dont care for a shiny cres or chrome finish like the ones at rksport.com. Theirs is not a good replica of this badge. Thanks and I look foreward to hearing from you.

Obviously they are not interested in my business, as they have not even replied saying they dont have anything like that....not even a KMA. I am pretty dissappointed not to even get a reply.

However, Brent Franker DID reply to a post I made on this board about the same issue. He told me he has some new material that is made of vinyl that looks like real brushed aluminum. He said it would look good on my car. I decided to buy give it a try. I took the old decals off and applied the ones he sold me. I am very satisfied with the overlays. They really look as good as he said they would. You may want to ask him if he has any vinyl that looks like stainless steel. I gotta be honest with ya though. In my honest opinon...brushed aluminum has polished stainless beat hands down when it comes to appearance. Here is the URL to his site http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/vinyl/vinyl.htm

Had anyone ever heard anything? MBA had emailed me back a long time ago, indicating that they didn't like the way their versions were coming out and they weren't sure if they would ever go into production. SSInserts never responded to my emails. I'm surprised they decided to make SS badges and no Z28s since there is such a bigger market for them... and subthump never came through...

In the mean time, I have my nice painted emblems, but... I'm still waiting patiently!

That is probably because the Z28 badges look terrible if just cut out the same size. You'd need a CNC machine to do the "lines" in them to make them look half way decent. If you take a Z28 and fill in the lines so it is a solid Z28, it looks terrible. I've done it with vinyl and it is ugly

The SS Inserts are laser cut out of 20 gauge stainless steel so they'd either have to do away with the lines or cut like 16 different pieces for each emblem. That might be why they don't do it.

You are talking about this emblem, right? Is the chevy bowtie connected (how?) to the 'Z28' or two separate pieces?

Brent hit the nail on the head with his comments........
either the machining or the installation isn't practical.
