Ever try and black out the corner lights?

I'm going to attempt to black out my car, so I'm going to paint the wheels gunmetal, tint the back window dark black, and tint the 3rd brake light a little with VHT nightshades or whatever paint.

Can you do the same on corner lights? If not, can you take out the coloring, or are they orange plastic?

Thanks.

Re: Ever try and black out the corner lights?

i read in another thread, the VHT niteshade stuff has a redish tint to it (for brakelights). Someone tried it on their turn signals and said it looked awful because you could see redish to it.

until a rock or any other small object hits it. Things will scratch tint that will not leave rock chips in your front bumper. But if you do go this route, you might as well do it yourself and save a little bit of money.

The corner markers will tint fine with the NiteShades really...

Mine were tinted in this pic...

(In all these... http://blackbowtie.web1000.com/images/94BlackBowtie/ )

I had some grille's I made over them though to protect against stone chips and such though. I was gonna paint them black, but once they got on there, I liked them like that.

This is what they looked like lit up (without the grilles):

I now have these:

There are some other Smoked Clear Corners though that are darker that were posted about a few weeks back that I liked better - I'll try and dig that up right quick...

I painted my turn signals black, but when you paint them its very hard for others to see them

I ended up buying these, they are a clear turn signal with a black housing. I didnt get a chance to install them yet.

Re: Ever try and black out the corner lights?

Dont paint or tint, get the covers! Now my black car came with covers and they look great, they fit perfect. Now i dont know what brand they are, but all brands ARE NOT the same. I bought some for my vert and they are the biggest POS i have ever bought! I had to grind them down b4 installation. They were not even close to fitting the car. dont go after the absolute cheapest. Thats the route i went and got burnt.

Re: Ever try and black out the corner lights?

I have taillight blackouts and foglight blackouts, and I was thinking about turn signal covers.....but it makes me nervous to blackout my turn signals......the last thing I need is for someone to not see my blinker clearly and go and turn in front of me or something. I was even nervous about doing my taillights but they're still visible....but the turn signals I don't wanna mess with.

Well my car is parked and covered for the winter time, so it may be a while until they are installed. I am starting to acquire a pile of new car parts in my room that are waiting to be installed.

After painting mine black its clear that others can not see them. It can create some dangerous situations, and it would be pretty stupid of me to keep them like that. Thats why I decided to go with the clears in my earlier post. After this, I wouldnt even be comfortable going with black out covers anymore.
