Does a black top = V8?

Does a black top = V8?

Do all Z28 and SS models have black tops? Or can they also have the same color as the rest of the body? Thanks for the help.

they can have both, body colored roof was an option in later model years.

I believe it was in '96 when the option for a painted roof was first offered for the Camaro's. It was available on both the V6 and V8 models.

I have never seen/heard of a 98+ SS/Z28 that didn't have a black roof, but 94-97 could have either color (but very few Z28's I have seen were with body colored roof)

come to Florida I can show you a few SS LS1's that are body color..few gold, reds and that orange color...

pretty much depends on the color, some cars look ok with a painted roof, others don't. I see it a lot on silver cars

Thanks for all your help, I thought the Z28 and SS models all had black tops. Now I know they had an option to paint it black or body color. Thanks again.

Yeah, GM made it somewhat difficult to tell at a glance if it was a standard Camaro or a Camaro Z28. Badges on the side, tire size, and exhaust were the only clues (I can think of) in some cases.
