Does anyone have experience repairing SMC? (The stuff our doors are made out of)
Does anyone have experience repairing SMC? (The stuff our doors are made out of)
Someone gouged out the lock on one of my doors while trying to break into it. So now there is a jagged hole where the lock used to be.
Has anyone worked with the repair material before? The procedure for repairing a crack looks pretty trait forward, but I will have to fill in the hole completely then drill a new hole for the lock.
Do you think this is something I could do myself? I want to save a little cash.
Thanks,
-Jason

Evercoat just released a SMC repair that is similar to characteristics of Dura-glass, but uses Kevlar as a reinforcement and is supposed to provide perfect SMC repairs with no shrinkage. Any body shop supply company (paint store) should have this. It's about $20 and comes in a tube.
Just pull the lock from the other door so you have a referance of what it is supposed to look like.
