quick question, i got a 95 Z, and i was wondering if anyone has removed that black thing that line's the hood. I think it is a baffel or something. I think it looks really gay, and wanted to remove it. Has anyone done this? or know what the purpose of this thing is? Thanks.

 

Do you mean the heat shield cover?
The insulation that sits on the bottom side of hood?

If so - yes plenty of people have removed it.
I've heard it cleans up the looks of the car with the hood up.

Mine doesn't spend much time trying to look pretty with the hood up so I personally wouldn't do it.......

If it's your fancy - then go to it man!

 

Yea it's fine to remove it's just a heat shield/fire blanket newer SS's don't even come with one

 

the little plastic things pop right out... just pull on them... I think youll have to disconnect the hood struts to get it out if you want to do it without destroying it.
