Do L.E.D.'s get HOT?

Do L.E.D.'s get HOT?

do LED's get hot ? if so, can they melt plastic? are they MOISTURE sensitive?
I'll be doing all of my interior lights in LEDs pretty soon, So i am curious.

They get warm but not hot enough to melt plastic. None I've used have anyways

As long as the connections are water proof, so are the actual LED's. And yes, they do not get hot. It only takes a few volts to actally turn them on.

The LEDs you are most likely to use don't get hot... (5mm, t-1 3/4)

There ARE LEDs that get VERY Hot... I work with LEDs all day, and I have some that will burn you from touching parts of the LED and its required Heatsink.

I'm going to use the plug and play ones from superbrightleds.com..... the ones with the resistors already built into them....
I think I only need 3 and 5 mm so I guess they should be cool... thanks for your input guys!
