In Dire Need of Help!
My Camaro was wrecked pretty bad in the rear end by a 1983 Suburban. The other drivers insurance wanted to total the car but the body shop said they would do the repairs for the totaled amount rather than total it. Cool. Well a month later (today) we got a call the car was finished. We look at the car and the gap between the Hactch and the 'CAMARO' Lettering was quite big. I could stick four fingers in it up to my Knuckle. Is this Normal or is that to big? Also, If you looked close you could see the wiring behind the Taillights, Normal or not?
Thanks.

Which part?
How big of a gap should there be between the hatch and CAMARO piece? The light wires can be seen if you look at the right angle near the outside of the car. Get what Im saying?

That doesn't sound normal to me. I can't even get my fingers under the hatch, between the hatch and the camaro lettering...well, maybe the finger tips, but thats about it. Also, from the back of my car, I cannot see any wiring what so ever. no matter what angle I'm looking, I've never seen any wiring. I'll find some pictures of the backs of cars to show you...
Another thing, The Bumper was going to be replaced, but to get the cost to below Totaled amount, It was going to be 'Used' but in 'Great' Condition. Well when we were there we found a Good size Crack in the Fiberglass (Not the Paint). The guy said it was a Stress Fracture. Knowing nothing about body work I didnt know what to say. Should they be able to give me a 'Defective' part if I agreed to a used bumber?

Its not my insurance trying to screw me over. They guy who hit me, His Insurance was trying their hardest to total my car for some reason. They tried to tell me it was only worth 4k, Etc... But the body shop was cool and said they didnt feel it was totaled and would fix the car for an amount that would make it not totaled and anything they needed to do extra they would take. Well the guy we were dealing with was fired for some reason, And we suspect because he was doing the right thing. And now they are trying to give me a car only 50% complete.
The bad thing is the guy who hit me is one of my better friends and Im trying all I can to keep him out of it all.

I just checked mine. from the lip of the hatch to the top of the "camaro" panel is 1/2". The top of the panel is flush with the top of the fenders. b/t/w mine is a vigin, never hit. but you should not be able to see any wires. hope this helps.
You are getting the shaft my friend. there is no way in hell you should be able to stick four fingers between your hatch and rear fascia. wires visible? can you post pics i think we might get a good laugh and an example of what work should not look like.
Whatever you do, do not accept the car back in your possesion. Allot of times if you do you will not have a leg to stand on. Tell them you will not accept the car until you and your insurance company says its acceptable. Call your Insurance Co. and ask if a adjuster would look at it for you.
