Red face Dammit...the wheel hunt continues...

Well, I am looking for some NICE but UNIQUE wheels for my 2002 SS.

I like American Racing TT2s, but everyone has them
The same goes for ZR1 wheels
HRE's are far too expensive
I had a set of Simmons, but they were too wide for my lowered car and the rivet ring is outside of the spokes which makes it look like the wheels is an inch smaller
I had a set of OEM Z06 wheels, but the offset was too much in the back and I didn't want to pound my car with a hammer to make them fit

I want something that looks performance-oriented but I don't want too plain but I also don't want too "bling-bling".

I was looking at these:
http://www.z06vette.com/forums/showt...threadid=36164

They come in f-body offsets and can be ordered with custom painted centers and I was thinking about charcoal or black centers for my black car. The only thing is they are one-piece wheels, the rivets are just for looks, but I like the look.

What do you guys think? Got any other suggestions?

Hey Jason
Whats up buddy? Those wheels look nice, are you looking for wheels now with painted centers only, or are you still open to a full polish wheel? Let me know bud, and shoot me an email with how much your looking to spend, Ill do some research. You know I have went through many wheels, so I do have a foot in at some places. Talk to you soon.

I have the exact same dilema. Except I don't really care if "everyone has these rims." Your car will still look great and around where i live, I hardly ever see any F-bodies with TT2, Y2k's or anything other than stock. It's just hard to pick something that looks good on a T/A. Personally, if I had an SS, I would definetly do TT2's. 18" TT2's look sooo good on SS's. The only wheel that looks perfect on a T/A (or a Formula and SS) to me is a Fiske M/5, but thats mucho deniro. The search does continue.....if only price was no object...

I think I would have been more tempted to pound the car. Was wondering why you had posted this when I first saw it - wondering what had happened to those wheels. But - I also think - No to TTII's, No to ZR1's, and maybe to the Black Z06's. My thoughts are though, Gunmetal Gray looks better on black though than black.

Personally, my favorite wheels are the Mallet wheels. Check out Extreme Motorsports' website for some pics, and the only place I know of that sells them aside from Mallet. They are the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th items down (can't remote link on their new website, it's all in Java). My personal favorite of those are the Magnesium set or the Chromies of course.

For pics on Camaro's, head over to Berger's Site. Even have a Black SS with them.

Those are my favorite, and the price isn't that bad compared to a lot of other custom wheels.

Now the wheels that are really growing on me are these here Centerlines. The only problem is they aren't available in anything bigger than 17x8. The good news, they are even cheaper than the others, and they are 1-piece rotary forged. I would love to see them on an F-Body. You might even have enough left over to get them widened like chucky did with his IForged's.

Good luck.

Hey Black94mula, do you have any affiliation with the Citgo plant? I am working on a revamp job for them. It all started because of a big fire they had back in August of '01. I saw that you are in Lemont.

Jason, I would consider the #280 Milan from Performance Wheel Outlet(look at the camaro section about 5th wheel down). Everybody says they don't wanna put a "ford" wheel on their Chevy yada, yada, yads but I think they look great on any car. I would definately go with chrome on a black car but you said you don't want too "bling" so maybe order them in bare finish and have them powdercoated a dark grey and then clearcoated. Their site only shows painted, polished, or chrome, but you can order them in bare machined finish.

GMHTP used them on their "Thunderchicken" project.

Right-on! Those wheels ARE sweet. Those newer Cobra-R wheels are pretty sweet lookin too. Maybe someone has THOSE in the right bolt pattern/offset. I personally don't care anything about ford/chevy wheels being on the 'wrong' car ...IT'S WHEELS MAN?!?!? It's not like putting a built 302 in an f-bod or something!

Thanks for the advice, guys.

I am not much for the Milan wheels, but I appreciate the consideration.

I might have a line on something completely new, that no one has seen before... It is a BIG might...

If it comes to pass, I will let you all know.

Other than those mentioned, these come to mind as not too common:

American Racing's Corvette wheel:

Kinesis 5 spoke:

Looked at all 3, and all 3 are a little too expensive. Nice suggestions, though.
