Custom Interior Help

Hey guys, I want to take my car to the next level. It is a 94 z28 sunset orange w/ black hockey stripes, 18" ZO6's, ground fx, SS hood, all the good bolt on appearance stuff. I want to start on the interior now, and not just bolt on stuff. What do I use to paint my interior with? I want to take the dash out and paint it sunset orange, but should I send it somewhere or what? Also, how long would it take for 2 people to swap the entire interior out for a new interior, I have tan, and my dad owns a used car lot and he just got a totalled v6 camaro with black, and I want it. How long would that take to do? Anyhow, any other suggestions on custom interior? No one around my area has a custom camaro, just stock with rims here and there. I want to stand out from the crowd though. Any help would be appreciated, God Bless.

Re: Custom Interior Help

http://www.meissenation.com/tutorials.html There's three interior modification tutorials that I've written up, all text based but you can really get wild with that.

As for exchanging interior -- it really doesn't take that long to do.. it's just removing about 25 panels or so... I can only count about 19 in my head..

2x A-Pillars
2x Kick Panels
1x Gauge Surround
1x Dash Pad (butts up to windshield..)
1x Radio Surround Bezel
1x Airbag Panel (Personally never removed that one, so I'm not sure how that comes off...)
1x Glovebox
1x Panel that the glove box latches to...
2x Backseat Panels.. big pieces.
2x Rear quarter panels
1x Hatch Surround

I'd probably say that it would be easier to paint than replace, I've painted my entire interior except for the kick panels.. just never got around to them lol. The hardest one to do was the airbag panel, I had to tape & newspaper the inside of my car like crazy and then sprayed it in the car. Everything else I removed and painted. http://camaro.meissenation.com/ for pics.

Re: Custom Interior Help

i would replace rather than paint. It would be worth it just to not have to worry about scratches taking the paint off and showing the true color.

meissenation- How is your paint job holding up. I have a graphite 97+ console that i'm considering painting black and stickin in my car. I just worry that the console will get scratched up alot and look like azz.

Re: Custom Interior Help

lots of clear coat is your friend.

I think I did somewhere around 15 decently thin coats of clear coat on each panel, so I can definitely say that after some minor scratches here and there that I thought would leave marks, I haven't had nay problems.. just buff the clear coat a lil and it's fine. My biggest problem is the console lid that I painted, where my elbow rests it's now cracking.

Re: Custom Interior Help

Get leather racing seats. They are nicer than the stock 'uns.

Then just suit your taste with the rest.
