Jsut buy a billet grill, and prime it, and spray paint it high gloss black? Maybe put some Clear coat on it as well?
I don't think a billet grill woudl look right on my car, that it woudl stick out "too much" when my car has kind of a suttle look ot it I like.

I really like that ZL1 grill posted here...

But looking it up its a $40 difference from a regualr billet one to a black one.
$100 vs. $140.

Yea that's fine. But, it is going to chip. I pretty sure the stull grill is powdercoated hence the 40 dollar difference.
It's really up to you is saving 40 bucks worth having to repaint and touch up the painted one all the time

just put up the extra 40 bucks. Your painting supplies will probably cost you another 10-20 minimum right?
So know you are saving 20-30 bucks. And now consider the time and labor it will take you. An average mechanic runs about 50 bucks an hour. That means for this to all be a "savings" to you, you need to get the whole job done in about a half hour, otherwise you will be spending more time and money on something that wont be professional quality and definately not powdercoated so will require more work in the future.
But its also nice to say you did it your self....so take it as you will.
just my 2 cents

Hehe my cars have always been about cheap look into, they beat similar cars with less money invested
I didn't think much about the chipping part... I have half the 3/4s the painting supplies I needed, just need a can of high gloss...
Do you guys think some engine paint might work?
