Question Corvette Injector Covers for SS Camaro?

Has anyone tried to put the plastic LS1/Corvette Injector Covers on a Camaro/Firebird? Any mods needed to fit? Thanks

Do a search on this topic, there is tons of info available. I've done this mod, and while it is definitely do-able, be prepared for some work. The different years of LS1 F-bodies differ quite a bit under the hood (some years have EGR, some models have TCS etc.) You will have to do quite a lot of trimming to the passenger side FRC to get it to fit (about 1/2 of mine had to be trimmed away, to allow it to snap into place). You will have to cut a slot in the front of it for the throttle cable, and a little oval for the dip stick. What I suggest is, pick up some thick cardboard, and use that to make a template. Once you are satisfied, transfer that pattern to the FRC, and make your cuts with a Dremel tool. Take your time, and you will wind up with a good result. BTW, I filled the Corvette letters on my FRC's with flexible body repair "stuff", painted them with textured paint, and added "Firehawk" decals. They look pretty good, IMO.

More info. The covers for the 98 Corvette have two fuel line openings in the drivers side cover. They fit the best, as you will not have to dremel out the second hole for the Camaro fuel line. They are only available in black. If you are going to paint them, or leave them black, these are the ones to buy. The red LS6 covers are like the later years LS1 covers and only come with the rear fuel line hole. I mistakenly ordered the red and had to make a pattern and cut out the second hole. Most of what you have to cut off is under the cowl. You also need to bend out the air tubes just a bit to clear. The wiring harness must also be repositioned on the fuel rails so the upper clips will engage. You will need to make an opening for the throttle cable bracket on the drivers side cover. All of this cutting and shaping is barely noticeable even with the red covers on my dark car. I have seen it on a Black TA and the cutting was not noticeable at all.

Do use the cardboard pattern system for the initial cuts. A jig saw with a plastic cutting blade works the best. Be prepared for some trimming. Also practice on some plastic if you use a dremel, as it will walk, if you are not prepared.

The advantage of doing them youself is money. Mine cost about $60 at the dealer and an evening of my time. You can check this against the cost of buying them made for your car at a number of the sponsors here and elsewhere. The professionally done covers can look really great, with vehicle specific logos. etc.
