Convertible top "Triangles"
Anyone have the part number for the triangles on the convertible top near the window? Mine are in bad shape, I peeled the paint off, and it's either I make them out of Carbon Fiber (dont flame, I wouldnt use a vinyl immitation) or buy something from the dealer. Anyone have the part number on those? I'm wondering how much they are from gmpartsdirect.

I'm not home but later if I remember and nobody has answered this for you, I'll look it up and reply back.
I just did what GM did for the late 97-on verts . I went and bought a sheet of black ABS plastic and cut the exact shape and used to 3M thin double sided tape to apply . Its been on for 3 years without a problem . 3M stuff rocks
F67 (convertible)
LH 10286319
RH 10286318
F87 (coupe/t-top)
LH 10240165
RH 10240164
Hmm... the above come off a parts CD but I don't think the convertible numbers are correct. They show up as $75 retail each. DOH! The F87 are like $9 retail which is more reasonable.
Go to www.gmpartsdirect.com and stick in 10240165 and you'll get a picture

The convertible ones are many times more expensive why? There must be some difference.
I'd repaint them - but whenever I paint with black paint I lack the skill to do it really well. I can paint fine with any other color - just not black.

Like I said, I don't think my info is correct. I have a convertible and non convertible in the garage and they are both the same size and look to be the same to me so I'm not sure what the difference would be???

Coupe is a thin piece of plastic and the vert is a THICK piece of metal . Thwe more expensive part for the vert IS correct as the 2 are VERY different , although they look same from the outside .

I didn't realize that! From the outside they do look and measure the same.
Guess my info was good and I didn't even know it
They actually come out real easy, just two bolts on the back and I think three that hold the rubber molding to them. Also it seems like there are more screws but they are held on by the black goop, so they kinda stick on there. They are a very big thick piece of metal, aluminum. I once painted them on the car, turned out great, until the paint started flaking, probably cause I just used some regular primer, thne the 2nd time I bought aluminum primer and sanded them down, and painted them with some generic spraypaint. Its so easy, just make sure to paint where dust will not get all over them, and make sure its a new spray can or else the nozzle might have some old paint inside, which will make it spray like there is dust on them, doesn't spray as smooth. Just put light coats every few minutes(depending on spraypaint) THe Gm paint drys real fast, the generic doesn't. I thought about using the plastic ones also, but after a while they get scratched, plus the painted ones look much better since they're so shiny. When I had them off IT was the rainy season, and no water ever got in the open holes, thats probably why the 3m works so well. I think GM put 3m on the factory ones after a certain year because of this problem. The plastic onmes will be much easier then sanding and painting, so depends on what you want to do.
