Hey everyone i was wondering if someone could tell me if I would be able to replace my console with a 97-up console. I drive a 94 camaro. Just out of curiousity. Because i found one of the 97-up consoles cheaper than I could find one for my yeah model. If you guys know what im talkin about let me know. Thanks.

 

Yes, you can certainly replace your 94 console with 97+. It'll take some slight modification, but definitely will fit. There's an extra peg in the 97+ that helps stabalize it just a little bit more, so ya gotta drill into the metal to make room for the peg -- or you can just cut the peg off and you'd be fine. Otherwise it's a very easy job to do.

 

it will bolt right up, but you will have a pretty big gap between your stereo and your console as it gets rid of the "pocket"

There will also be an exposed metal bracket in the front under your stereo and in front of the console

 

Oh yeah see thats why i was hezitating on it cause the guy i bought the camaro from took the pocket out and its looks ugly without it there to me so im trying to find the pocket alone...practically impossible...so im just gonna get a new console and i like the newer ones better but in that case i think ill just stick with the old style. just post a wtb ad on the forum. MANY MANY MANY people crack the console lid and then just toss the whole console when they replace it, so you could get one cheap with a busted lid and just pull what you need off of it

the pocket won't look that bad if you cover it. Heck, I actually took a real thick black snow hat and shoved it into the pocket and it looked pretty decent and looked good.

Main thing to keep in mind is 97+ consoles have 4 cup holders and 2 cig lighters. Seems like a bonus to me.
