cleared firebird taillights

I remember seeing people do this a few years ago when I still had my Z28. Well now the look I'm going for on my formula will be light-years better if I can clear the taillights as opposed to blacking them out. Does anyone know how to go about this? I can't even find pictures of this done anymore...

I've seen it done, but it was a pain. they seperated the housing and remove the red from it, then sealed it back up and painted the bulbs red. looked awesome but took some work.

I think i remember seeing them sold like that somewhere too, but I could be wrong.

I asked around over on LS1 tech as well, and the concsensus seems to be what I feared the reason for not seeing it done much anymore was..

The red can't be removed on the 98+ tails so that idea is out

This only works on LT1 Formula and Trans Am lights.
