Yes, LED 3157s do work, but you need to change the turn signal flasher. The flasher you need is a EL12 electronic flasher the can be found at AutoZone for $7.99

Just out of curiosity, why do you have to chande out the flasher?
Whats weird is Sylvania says my car takes a 2397 bulb which has the round base but my car takes the flat based bulbs and has 3057's in it.

Because of the LEDs not using much power, the stock thermal flashers will not sense them as being there, rather they will sense a burnt out bulb causing the turn signals to not flash, as it would if a bulb were burnt out.
Electronic flashers don't detect that, they just send the flash signal to the bulb regardless if it's working or not. The only drawback is that your turn signals will no longer tell you if you have a bulb burnt out.
But it's not a big deal to turn the lights on and walk around the car to check that there's none burnt out. I'd plan on doing that about once a week just in case.
Also, there are two flashers... one for the turn signal, one for the hazards. You'll want to change them both out.
The flashers are located underneath the knee panel which is below the steering column. Hazard flasher to the left of the steering column, turn signal flasher to the right. The steering column sorta draws a center line between the two.
Hope this helps!!
