Cleaning/Undercoating Wheel Wells
Cleaning/Undercoating Wheel Wells
Not sure if this is the perfect spot for this or not.
I was rotating my tires yesterday and began to spray some simple green in the wells and scrub them a little while they were off. I noticed some cracks in the plastic (obviously the only replacement for this is replacing them) but also some of the black undercoating which I think was sprayed in originally is cracking away. In some spots it's down to the metal. I don't want my wheel well rusting and would like to clean this up as a summer project.
Any ideas. I'm thinking about spraying 3M Rubberized Undercoating in there one day after taping everything off. I'm trying to do a lot of "budget" improvements for my car this summer, just getting everything running better before college instead of wasting a lot of money on the fun mods...hehe. Any ideas on this? Will this work or just cause more problems?
I'm seeing too much rust and stuff under there and want it all cleaned up.
Thanks,
Mark

what about por-15. that stuff is good and will stop the rust from spreading and doesnt chip or crack easily, granted its a little more work as you'd have to remove whatever undercoating is in your wheel wells. I was lookin thru their catalog they sent me and it also had por-15 hard nose paint, supposed to be a little better than reg por-15 for undercoating. but i cannot find the catalog right now so...anyway, you could look into them if you want www.por-15.com
