Cigarette Lighter Question???

Almost finished 97+ console swap. One more question.

On the new 3 prong cigarette lighter. Which connection is pos, neg, and ground?

I have to splice the 2 prong lighter wires to the 3 prong connection. I tried the left and right connectors but got nothing. There are two other possibilites left seeing as the bottom connector must be pos. or negative.

Thanks!

I did this swap on my 95, but I only saw 2 prongs on the secondary (accessory) plug. The harness from my 95 stock lighter cliped right on to the lighter in the console I bought (out of a 2000 I think). Maybe a 96 is different? Got pix?

Got it...Trial and Error works well in some cases.

On my console the aux outlet was 2 prong...that was easy.

The cig lighter was a 3 prong design though. The power supply plug from my old 2 prong lighter wouldn't fit it. I had to buy the 3 prong connector and splice it. My console was from a Firebird. Maybe this has something to do with it?

So, facing where the wires come out....

Left (+)
Bottom (-)
Right (not used)
