Check out my new powdercoat job on my intake!

Just got my intake back yesterday from getting powdercoated at Bonehead performance. I think it will look good under the hood of my silver 95 Z.

You do know that powdercoating does not allow any heat to escape?

Your intak si going to be hotter than hell after a few minutes of driving.

You're not serious are you? It's granulated plastic, not thermal ceramic. The LT4 intakes are powdercoated form the factory.

Is that silver vein? Don't worry about the powder increasing the temp of the intake very much at all. As already stated, it's not a thermal barrier coating. Have you considered polishing the fins?

You do know that your info is not correct? I'm curious where you got the idea that powdercoating does not allow any heat to escape? That is simply not true, and now you are passing on this bad info to others. Coated parts may hold a little more heat than bare aluminum, but to say that it "does not allow any heat to escape" is simply wrong.

It is a thermal barrier, maybe not 100%, but a thermal barrier, yes.

My friend had his powdercoated silver. After driving for a few minutes, the thing gets so damn hot.

Let us know then after you install it how hot the intake gets. Get one of them infrared temp gauges to tell the diff. in heat. Ill let you know what temp of my stock intake is.

Oh, I didn't know that you had a friend with something coated...and here I only got paid to do it (powder and TBC) almost every day for years. All good info starts with "My friend..."

Well, it is my friends, and I can feel just by placing my hand over the intake on how hot it gets. Who knows, maybe he had his coated with something different.

Damn, go easy on me. No need to loose your cool about it.

Thanks for the comments! It is silver vein, and as far as I know about the temperature, it shouldn't make a difference.

Very nice. How much did that run. Just curious since I am planning on this in the near future.

I also had my hotchkis strut tower brace powdercoated with the intake. For both the intake, and the strut tower, and next day shipping the total was $90. They did a great job IMO, and they were helpfull on the phone. If you check out their website, you can find more prices, and colors.

Not a bad price, funny that you mentioned your Hotckis STB, the paint on mine is chipping off pretty bad and I was hoping to get that powdercoated as well.
