Question Is this the cheap/smart way to do blackouts?

Anyone use this stuff before, if so did you like it? I would like to do all black outs on my car but at the same time I really do not want to deal with the decreased light problem, since we seem to have a lot of blind people driving around town. Seriously though, the number of wrecks around here is getting bad, all rear end collisions too from what I have seen.

I looked around too and it seem once gain Jegs is the cheapest.

hey man

I used this stuff on the rear markers and the 3rd Brake light and it's quite good combined with clear coat on top of it. "But" I would never do it on the rear lights, or anything with the bigger surface because no metter how good you're in painting stuff it's still a spray can wich can start overspraing very easy. And then all the sendin and repainting which is pretty much never comes out perfect. Plus blackouts - you can remouve in the metter of second and painted - you can replace in the metter of weeks

Myself - i have all the ext. lights blacked out. GTS on the front, back and blinkers and the rest is painted.

That is with 3 coats of Niteshade, and 5-7 coats of clear (I don't remember how many coats of clear). It looks great, and really not too dark. It's a very smoked looked, but when the sun hits it, the red color comes back a good bit. Looks awesome.

I was going to use masking tape to make sure I did not mess anything up.

you got me wrong there
I wasn't talking about painting the rears right on the car (please do remove them if you decide to paint them) but instead I was talking about the large drops which spray cans known to shoot time to time. and this stuff do dry fast

I have used it on many surfaces. It is a little tricky to get onto larger area's without it showing, but is possible.

I have it on my front corner markers currently with NO clear coat. I also have quite a few coats on there - to where it looks black, which isn't as safe, but I like the look. PLUS - IT ISN'T so dark that you can't see the turn signals in full daylight, it still let's enough light through for that.

The cheapest place online is Jegs I believe - or if you are lucky enough to have an O'Reilly auto parts close by, they can get it (if they don't have it in store) for around $7 a can. I am pretty sure with Jegs you are gonna have to pay a high shipping cost.

I have it on my 3rd brake light and my tail lights. It looks great! I used 4 coats on my tail lights. You can still see the brake lights really good at night. I think my tail lights look way better now than when I had the light covers. I did'nt put clear coat on them. What kind of clear coat is everyone useing?

I've seen a blue celica in my area with painted headlights. It looks tight. He gave me the site where he and others have it done, but I don't remember... . I'm hoping to run into him again and write down the site this time. The lights were still bright.
