Chaning fog lights in my 99 Z28

I need some advice on changing the sucky factory fog lights(they don't even do anything) I want to go with some aftermarket lights, but I am wondering if it will be worth it? Will there be more light on the road?

I am hesitant because of the way the lights are mounted in the bumper. They are mounted so far back in there, it seems like part of the bumper could be blocking the light. So is it a worthwhile mod?

That was my question for a while, I was debating over the $200 PIAA 1100x or the generic but still bright Pilot 2028s:
