Re: Center Concole mod

Nope, but I'm planning on it as well. I found the black 12"x12" 1/8th inch abs molded sheet for less than 10 bucks on eBay. I also bought a windshield mount for my phone which I'm going to take apart and use the cradle. Then my sub volume control will be mounted on it as well. Hopefully in the next month or two. I will post some pics once done.

Re: Center Concole mod

I dont think that would be a good spot for a head unit because thats an area so low you would have to take your eyes completely off the road to mess with it. Also the shifter will get in the way. I put a pioneer double din navi in the stock location but that took a lil bit of work to the radio bezel to be able to show the whole face of the unit.

I used that area and made my own gauge pod using the 4 gauge pods for the 69 Z's. Took some work but even those its tough to look at them and keep your eyes on the road.

I think that location is probably pretty good for a GPS unit.

I've always, always, always thought it was weird GM only made a cassette version of that part. It's really not that useful for those of us who have factory optioned CD players.

I dont think you shoudl spend a lot of money on it, just put a XM receiver or a regualr GPS down there.
