car show tips

I entered my car into a car show for the first time and wanted some tips from people who have done this before. Like how to have to hood opened or closed things of that nature. I didn't know if this belonged here or somewhere else, but appearance and shows seemed to fit. Thanks

ive never been in a show, but i would say, if you have a highly detailed engine bay, open the hood, if not, leave it closed. Nothing to show off. have a stereo system in the back? is it a clean set up, have the hatch open. If your car is just really clean, leave all doors closed. so people can admire the beauty of the car

Most of the shows I have done were hood up (to show engine detail), t-tops in, hatch/trunk open, windows down, and doors unlocked. In other words, give the judges as much access as possible.

One tip I can give is don't get so obsessed with winning that you forget to have fun. A lady at this year's Trans Am Nationals forgot that it was for fun, and was yelling at her kids for not helping her clean the car!

I agree have all areas of your car open for the judges. Even if its just the car show particapants that are doing the judging.

If you have something you really want to show off. Do it.
Vaccum the car out to the max & make sure there is NO dirt on the car or in the engine Compartment.

Remember you cant always win & you may never win but its always a great time & you learn things . So have fun.

There was a guy at a Small local show that my husband & I put on last year. We put him on the ramps at the dealership. When he didnt win he got mad as hell & was Screaming at other show goers that We put him on the place of Honor & he should have won. I have never seen him at one of our shows again.

Shows are just for fun, but just make sure everything is clean. Every show is different on what has to be open and closed, just open everything to be on the safe side. Remember that when your car is judged that it is someone's opinion, that's it. Just have fun because some people get all bent out of shape at some shows, as long as you like your car who cares.
