Car coming back from paint shop Wednesday... need advice

My car is getting a fresh black paint job. I want to preserve it as best possible. What is the best wax to use? I want to use zaino but jeeze, whats with all this clay bar, z-7 wash formula and all this other crap? I was looking at the Z-2 wax for clearcoated cars. Will that do by itself or do I need a claybar or anything else?

Is there other waxes you would suggest? I have used zymol with some success but I want to preserve this new paint as best I can.

Are there any tips to taking care of paint? Like how to wash it and wax it or what materials are good and which are not???

Thanks.

I dont think you are supposed to wax a car untill a month after it's painted, not for sure though it might be 2 weeks I can't remember

oh and don't use a brush when you wash your car it scratches the paint.

1st off don't do a damn thing to the car except wash it with a VERY soft terry-cloth (100% cotton ONLY!!!!) for atleast the 1st 6 weeks, 8 weeks is better depending on how many coats of paint were applied. The Paint needs to breathe for that long to cure/harden correctly...

After that, do a very good wash, and then I'd personally take a buffer with some very very light compound, only if necessary in areas with a little build-up of stuff from driving the car (Front & Rear Bumpers mainly), and then put a nice wax over the entire car...

I would skip the Buffer if you are using a Zanio Product, which I would defenetly recommend. I don't remember the exact process, but run through all 3 steps of the Zanio process, and take your time...

You CAN use Zaino the minute you bring the car home from the body shop if you want to. Since Zaino isn't a wax and instead a polish you won't run into the problems that you would if you waxed your car after a paint job.

Most good paint shops, are car care product producer will tell you DO NOT WASH,WAX OR TOUCH YOUR CAR WITH ANY CAR CARE PRODUCTS FOR 90 DAYS after a paint job.

Before leaving the paint shop I would ask them their advice they are the experts on paint while we are not.

Oh by the way I just got my 2000 GTP Pace car out the the body shop after my portable garage fell on it. The whole car was covered with a new coat of paint. They told us that even though they know we already know it because we had another one of our cars in there a couple years ago. Plus we are regs in the shop for a tour group.

Yes, don't touch it. I did with mine and f*cked it up. They fixed it for free, though.

They say don't wash/wax for 90 days?

What the hell are you supposed to do if your car gets dirty?

Telling someone to leave their car in the garage is BS. One because it totaly depends on the where the car is located. There's no way you're going to hear that same reponse from an auto body guy that works in AZ. The paint will cure 10x faster in a state with stronger rays.

Also, if you don't believe me on the statement about applying Zaino right after a paint job, then ask in the car care forum.

Was told that we can use a light spray of water (nothing to hard) to wash some dirt off of it.

Right now our GTP is getting wet anyways its sitting outside since 1) there is a car that doesnt run in front of my husbands garage spot so we cant put it in that garage spot.
2) my camaro is in the other one getting a HSR system in it.

You are the first person to say anything about my sig, ever. I like to have all the major mods listed so that people can see what I have when I ask questions. It's not like I list every mod, trust me you don't want to see that list.

I will consent the paint shop.
