yes if u cut the old ones out and weld new ones in. there are weld marks from the factory that u can cut or make ur own but im pretty sure u gotta weld them when u replace em.

well, I just noticed that the car I bought FOUR DAYS AGO may have been wrecked and nothing came up on the Carfax, so I'm pretty pissed. I want them replaced. Anyone care to tell me how much it's gonna cost..... painted and all. Thanks for the help.

Probably about 1500. LOTS OF MONEY. Takes a lot to get the old one off and weld a new one on. Plus the part alone is like 600 I think.

that's ok, right now I'm so pissed off I don't really care how much it's gonna cost me. I'm just glad it can be fixed. Jeff94z28, thanks for the reply's...... as long as it's fixable, right now that's all I'm worried about. I just bought this f'kn car not even a week ago and now I see where they tried to fix the dings and dents and then painted over it. So were you talking $1500 for each side or total????

No problem and I was talking each. If I remeber correctly from my accident. Expect about 1000 to 1500 each.
Also the bad thing about having them replaced is the weld job isnt as good. Maybe I had a bad person do it but it doesnt look anything like factory.
Are you sure you cant just have it sanded down that would look nicer?

right now, I'll take it to anyone who knows how to do it, and pay them whatever they ask..... I can't imagine why it wouldn't look as good as if the car were new. Now I'm worried it will come out worse. Well, the waves over the passenger fender are a lot worse than the little dings on the driver side. That I can deal with, but the passenger fender in my opinion needs to be replaced..... do you have pics of your car with the new back fenders????

A few years ago I had a quarter panel replaced on my '94 Z28. The total cost came to $2200.

That was for 1.

The part itself I believe is in the area of $700, and it is ALOT of work to replace one. Not only do the welds require cutting, but there's a lip on the quarter panel that goes under the roof piece. So to correctly replace a quarter panel, it requires the roof piece to be broken off, and then later repaired, thus further increasing the cost.

So my guess would be for replacing both sides, look at about $4500.

Quarter panels can take quite a beating though, you'd be suprised at the dents that can be pulled out of them. For instance, on my 99 Camaro, I slammed it into a guardrail, and the quarter panel was so buckled that the door wouldn't open. I had it repaired, and it came out looking like new, and only cost me $1000... and that included repainting the door & front fender too.

So my advice would be to get them repaired. Go to a body shop and have an estimate done.

hey octanez28, thanks for the input..... now I have an idea of what I need to come up with. And, it's tax season, so that might make it even easier for me. Jeff, thanks for trying to get me pics, greatly appreciated, man. Oh, and octanez28... it already looks like they tried as hard as they could to get everything out and it still has waves, you need to kneel down and you'll see it. That alone makes my blood boil. That just tells me whoever had it before the guy I bought it from repaired it on the side so it wouldn't appear on the carfax. That's f'ked up..... oh, well you live and learn. Jeff, looking forward to the pics. Thanks again guys.

In my opinion, you are wasting a ton of money for no reason!

If you find a GOOD body guy he will fix those for you better than new for a fraction of the cost of what it is going to cost you to replace those.

I'd personally spend the money on a good body/paint guy and fix what is on there. From the way you talk, it isn't all THAT bad especially if you didn't even notice it when you first bought it.

To heck with spending thousands on replacing them, fix em and then send me a percentage of what you saved. LOL!

hey Brent,
thanks for the reply. I guess I'm just so upset that I want to replace them so that I know they will be new fenders without damage. Actually I only want to replace the passenger side quarter panel, and on the Year One website, it's around $480. Maybe it's the labor that will set me back. You are right, I could have it fixed and painted over, but I don't want it to turn to **** after a few yrs. peeling and chipping. That's all. I want to know what my options are before letting someone just put bondo and painting over it. Again, thanks for all the replies.

oh........nice car Brent!

Even if they were to put NEW ones on you'll still have bondo in the car... or at least you do in most cases because they still have to make it look good and fit it together at the seams. Some cars more than others. I think with the Camaro you'd have a minimal amount but you'd still have some.

If it makes you feel any better, take a look at some of these pictures...

There are more here...

And, I'm pretty sure the rear quarter panel of this car had been repaired by a previous owner.

Now look at the car...
http://www.extreme-z.com/96ss/yellowss.htm

It's a little different

And, take a look at this picture...
http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/94z/94z1.jpg

This picture was taken AFTER it was repaired. Yep, a drunk *** in a parking lot took out my rear quarter panel (on the side in the picture) and ripped up my bumper cover. Both were REPAIRED and not replaced and you can't tell even if you are looking for it

In fact, the rear bumper cover on that car has been repaired TWICE. The other time I backed into my buds Mustang! Here is a picture of the back after it had been repaired twice...

Like I said... all depends on the body/paint guy. Find a good one and I do believe you'll be happier in the end than if you spend a fortune and have new panels installed. And, you run the risk there of not having the stuff line up just right too!
