Buying 18's... What Size!
Buying 18's... What Size!
ok i decided to get Boyd Coddington Timeless 5's on my 2002 TA.. i want 18's cuz imo 20's look bad. If anyone has pics of Timeless 5's on a F-body i would love to see em. Anyway i am prob going to buy them from http://www.exoticwheel.net/ . They seem to have some nice prices.. The ones i was thinking of was 18 x 9.5 all the way around..
So i guess what i am trying to say is...
1) Any of u have pics of Timeless 5's on an F-body (preferable TA)?
2) What is my Stock Size.. i know i got 17's?
3) Does that size seem like a good size all the way around?
4) Just give me ur opinion!!

i don't think they make the rims in 18 x 11.... but then again i can't check unless i wanna waste 20 minutes of my day loading the page... good ole 26400 at work
but thanks for the responses. I think i am gonna order them 18x9.5. Now i need money for tires heh. So whats a nice street tire?!

go with 18x9.5 with 7.25 inches of back spacing with 275/35ZR18 tires all around or you could even go 285/35ZR18 in the rear...
but if you are going with an 18 inch wheel you need to stay with a 35 series tire.

I like my size setup for the 18's. I have HRE 18x9 in the front (your 18x9.5 will be fine) and 18x10 rear, 275-35 front and 295-35 rear. I have no fitment or rubbing problems and my car is lowered 1 5/8". The Timeless 5's look very nice on the f-body, Ive seen several Camaro's with them. Good luck and enjoy your new wheels.
35 series is gonna suck hard for ur rims everything u hit is gonna knock them and scratch them. the difference in side wall isnt even that much its gonna be a 141 mm on the 315/45 or 110 mm on 315/35 i work at americas tire co and i see people come in with cracked rims all the time from racing and going over railroadtracks or some little stuff do to the lower profile having no protection for the rim . . . although it could look a little better to u while u have it u have to worry about everything u drive over.
Well, you get what you pay for. If you buy **** wheels, they are going to be weak, and a lot more prone to bending. Im not saying you have to spend $4500 on a set of wheels, but dont spend $150ea on a set of 18's and expect them to last.
boyd does make 18x11's. ****, thety make any size u need, since theyre a custom wheel manufacturer.
dont do a 315 tire on anything less than an 11" wide wheel. i should be ordering a set of the Smoothie 2's by the end of the month. im going with 18x9.5's in front and 18x11's in back. backspace is 6" in front and 7" in back. fenderwells needed to be banged out and rolled but they should fit like a glove. 275's in front and 335's in back.
