Broken Tach and Temp gauge

I tried this in the LT1 tech, and nobody really even looked at it. Maybe you guys would know?

Ok, my tachometer has been broken for while now. The needle just kinda chills at the bottom. It happened last winter, I thought that maybe the cold had something to do with it? It would work one day, then stop the next day. but now its just down for good. Then recently, I noticed my temperture gauge was also broken. COnstantly stays at zero.

Anyone have any clue as to fix something like this? I've taken out the console before, and everything worked fine after it (problem happened a year and a half later). Could it possibly just be a broken jumper or something of that nature?

Im really not in the mood to have to buy a whole new instrument cluster But at the same time, my car is falling apart, and it needs some TLC.

Have you checked the connections at the sending units, since its electronic, might be a loose wire..... Temp sending unit located on driver side head between 1 & 3 plugs.... Trans speedo sending unit is on driverside in tail housing....

Im going to check this weekend. Im assuming the wires are easy to get to. I hope its just a lose one.

If the gauge is actually broken, im guessing there is no way to fix it correct?

If the sending units are working fine, then I would just replace the cluster. It's an easy swap that can be done in an hour, two if it's your first time. You can get a used cluster on eBay or from a junk yard for less than $100, and probably closer to $50. Your only problem would be that you have a '93 and the cluster is different that the 94-95's.

I know the color is a little different, but would it still fit properly? Also, wouldnt my mileage get all screwed up? Or would I have to be a little devil and change the odometer on the new one (if at all possible)

I looked at the part numbers and they are different for every model year. The 93's with the different style PCM are a bit of an odd man out. The 94-95's should be interchangeable, but someone else will have to answer on whether you can put any other model year cluster into a '93. I would initially assume this answer to be "no".

As for the odometer, supposedly, there are places that can adjust odometers and are licensed to do so. However, I have no idea where to find these people. Everyone always says to just go there and have it done, but I've never been able to find out where this is. I lucked out and when I replaced my 110MPH cluster with a 150MPH one, the mileage was only a few hundred miles higher than what I had, so I just kept it as is.

Hopefully, someone else can chime in on the odometer issue and tell us all where you can get the adjusted legally.
