Brent Franker vinyl (Praises and ?'s for you)
Brent Franker vinyl (Praises and ?'s for you)
First off i would like to say that is was great ordering from you. You were awsome to deal with; fast, courteous and professional from the start to the end!! I will and do recommend you for anyone wanting vinyl!!
I know you get a lot of great feedback on your stuff, i just wanted to add to it!!
Now to my questions. I noticed that the instructions say not to use water for the reflective vinyl. I was wondering if you do it dry or if you install it some other way?
Also for the 3rd brake light, do i install it just like the normal vinyl overlays with water and soap (it's standard vinyl) or if not, how?
I would have emailed this to you but i wanted to share my great experience with your "company" on the board!!
Thanks,
Derick W.

Thanks, Derick! The feedback is greatly appreciated!
For the reflective vinyl, I normally use water myself and have not had any problems. However, the vinyl manufacturer says to NOT use water. These contain a special "place right" adhesive which allows you to gently lay the decal in place. If it is not in the right place, you can pick it up and move it. Once in the correct position, you firmly press on the decal and then it will be stuck good. I have got feedback from others who have said they did NOT use water and the install went fine. On the flip side, I've had a handful who have had problems when using water... but, I do believe it was because they think more soap is better so instead of ONE DROP they use like a tablespoon or something and that is just WAY too much especially for the reflective. Like I said though, I do use water and have never had a problem... but water isn't necessary because of the special adhesive.
For the 3rd brake light... clean the light very good with rubbing alcohol. Get a hair dryer ready. Remove the decal off its backing (application tape still on decal). Spray the sticky side of the decal with a soapy water mixture (one or two drops for a sprayer bottle). Place the decal on the light while aligning the screw cutouts. When you have these aligned, gently push the decal onto the light just enough to get it stuck. Once stuck pretty good and in the correct position (according to the screw holes) then remove the application tape. Now use your thumb and push from the center to the edges of the decal over and over. As you get rid of the water from under the decal, it will stick in place. Use the hair dryer once you get it mostly stuck to help stretch the decal around the edges and smooth it out... do not get too carried away with the hair dryer because you can melt the vinyl if you get it TOO hot.
Let me know how you make out. Good luck!
