the bowtie on the nose of a 93-97z
i just got my z back out the shop from when i got into an accident a couple months ago and i see that the bowtie emblem isnt on the front anymore. i alsp observed that they didnt paint the eyes and grill back black, so i told the guy that i wanted it redone and he said ok. my question is is that red bowtie a stick on emblem or someting or is it apart of the mold in the grill, cause i dont have one anymore. if it is a stick on emblem then is it available in black cause i would like them to leave the grill red and just paint the eyes back black along with a black bowtie. sorry about the lengthy post, im just curious?
It is a stick on emblem. Not too expensive. I have the part number but not handy. Let me know if you need it and I'll find it.
You can only get one kind from GM... the stocker. You can get a carbon fiber one from RK Sport which is about as close to "black" as you'll get IMO. It is $17.95. www.rksport.com

Are you sure it is stick on??? I thought stock, it was molded in. I'm probably wrong though, can't check right now, my cars in storage. If it is stick on, I'm gonna take mine off, cars green and sticker is red, bugs me!
Wait, maybe the bowtie is molded in, with a bowtie sticker stuck on top, know what I mean. So, if you remove the sticker, you would still see a black bowtie if you looked close enough. Just brainstorming, I'll have to look for myself when car comes out.
Take care all,
Ben

You still need the part number even though it is only like your stocker?

The front grill bowtie is not a stick on.
I've taken mine off a couple of times to paint it.
It's definitely not molded into the grill.

BTW If you get a new bumper on you car they don't come with bowties, mine didn't either and it was redone at the dealership...

GM only has the stock one. RK Sport has them in either red or black carbon fiber.

Mine is red, white, blue, black, and silver around the edges
When it is said a "red" emblem I think more of it as a primarily red one. Like this "red" carbon fiber one from RK Sport...

What I have seen (if we're all talking about the same thing) is that there is a molded spot for that front emblem into the bumper. The emblem itself is a stick on type emblem. What I have done to mine is fill in that molded area so that it's flush like "Black-Z28's". I like that look better for me, and it looks REALLY sweet on Black's.
So if we're all talking about the front camaro emblem...yes it's molded...and yes it's a stick on.
