Black Wheels.
Black Wheels.
I want some black wheels! I have a red car and I'm looking for ideas, all I have found that is in my price range are black (Gran Sport) ZR-1 replicas. does anybody have any information on any other black wheel that may be affordable to a college student (under 1,000 a set) and pics?
If you're looking to get out cheap, I'd just look for a set of wheels you like and paint them yourself. It's not that big of a deal.
I used Duplicolor wheel coating in graphite. Check out the finished product here

Just find some wheels you like for a price you like and then paint them with some good wheel paint (although the DupliColor he used doesn't come in black I don't think), or get them powdercoated. Powdercoating is a little more expensive, but it looks very nice.

Today is your lucky day. I am looking to sell my set of black 5 spoke SS wheels and tires. They are powercoated gloss black and have Corvette Gran Sport emblems in the centers. I am selling with Kuhmo tires that have less than 1500 miles on them. I currently have them on my red 97 SS and can send you pics so you can see what they will look like on your car. My home computer is having trouble connecting to this website, so drop me a line at jamie@visi.net and I'll send ya some more info. Thanks, Jamie.
I love black wheels! I just put some on my Red '95 Trans Am. I used stock 16X8 Five Spoke T/A wheels for the front and 17X9 WS6 wheels for the back. It sounds goofy, but It doesnt look odd, and you get the added benefit of less weight up front and being able to save a bit of money on tires..Also most importantly I am also a college student, so money was a big concern in my set up as well. I had originally painted all the wheels myself, with tons of time and High Temp Black paint. I thought that they came out really well, I ended up having a mishap with the place that put the tires on my WS6 wheels, and they ended up getting damaged, luckily they repainted them. So on my car you can see the difference between "professional" paint and hand done. Hopefully your conclusion will be that they look very similiar, and that you can still get a great result without the money.

Also, about the Graphite paint. I dont know the silver paint looks really good, but the Graphite makes it look like your silver wheels are just dirty. but Im not saying the posted pics of them dont look good, I guess its just my opinion.
Good Luck!

i wish there was an aftermarket company that makes black wheels or gun metal, i love black wheels but i dont like to buy silver ones and paint them its just too much work and if they chip they look awful, do you guys know of any aftermarket stuff out there that you can order directly from the source.
you can go to the AFS wheels website, but it is cheaper to buy from their E-Bay auctions... just search for AFS wheels on the e-bay home page, they are brand new wheels and the same things you can buy off their website, just lots cheaper.
