Black Top or Not?

Black Top or Not?
here's the car:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/844026
I go to school for autobody and paint and I could possibly repaint the front nose and both fenders (I'd pay for materials) and I wondered....Should I convert it to a black top (i think that's what you call it)?
for example, if you don't know what I mean
Except on this car:
What do you think?
I'm getting rid of the '68 Chevy racing V-flags when they are removed for painting, but the '68 Camaro lettering is going back on. I'm also getting rid of the "CAMARO" hood vent inserts and replacing them with stock ones.

Re: Black Top or Not?
I didn't know it was a z28 only option? Good to know. I'm no poser. It probably works out better, it would be more $$ to spend on more paint. I may spend $200-$500 on paint and materials doing the front nose and two fenders. And I also need to mig weld my cracked header.

Re: Black Top or Not?
Mine isnt a V6 and I have a black roof, which is original (but I have t-tops though, so it may be different for them). I think it would look good with a black top, I say go for it if you like it, dont let anyone convince you not to do it. What matters is if you like it.

Re: Black Top or Not?
Um, you most definitely could get a black top on a V6 car. it was an option. painting the roof black would not be posing anything. body matched roofs were also an option for v8s. it was simply a majority thing by what was standard on each trim level. i would do it btw

Well I tihnk your car would look better with the black top but it's up to you man. I understand you wanted some opinions but in the end its you who drives it so do what you want.

Re: Black Top or Not?
One thing you could do that I always thought looked good is get very dark tints all around, then paint only the roof black, leaving the pillars (the panel that goes from rear quarter panel to the other) body color. I think that looks pretty sweet.

The monochromatic (body colored roof) option was introduced in 1995 for Z28s only.
I know the black C-pillar on an SS with t-tops was RPO code CC1, don't know if it was the same for V6 Camaros.
