Re: Black Chrome Camaro Inserts

You can achieve that same look by buying a set of polished stainless steel inserts and spraying a coat of Duplicolor Metalcast "Smoke" over them. You can get it at autozone.

http://www.duplicolor.com/products/metalcast.html

Duplicolor advertises this stuff as the ability to get an "anodized look in a can," but that look happens if you use their groundcoat with the colored clears. If you put the clear over a chrome or polished surface, it will essentially make it a colored mirror.

I currently have some of brents inserts in there now, and they are awesome, but I want to get something that fills the indentations a little more, plus I want that black chrome look. Ill look into that duplicolor though. Ill have to do a little testing on something, but it seems like it has promise.

yeah, i wish i had the money to drop on those. They are like 300 dollars more than regular chrome ZR1's. If they cost the same as regular chrome ZR1's, theyd be on my car right now

Oddly enough I just had another request for "black chrome" so I have some on order But, be careful about wanting inserts that fill up the rear indentations more than my do especially with the chrome. Anything larger than mine will be "crawling" up the side of the indents and with the chrome that doesn't conform/bend all that well, there will likely be big problems with them peeling on ya.

I am looking at getting a doming system that will add "depth" to the vinyl. Will be like a 3D emblem. Might look pretty damn cool with the black chrome!

If you are able to add depth to your vinyl and able to do it with your black chrome, you most certainly will have another order on your hands

I should have the black chrome vinyl next week. Not sure when I'll get the doming equipment but if I pull the trigger and just buy it I should have it in a couple weeks as well

Maybe this is off topic but i was just curious. Can you do the black chrome for the 30th anniversary seat inserts you have. also do you think it would look good with the Grey leather seats. http://community.webshots.com/user/jadizzle if you need to see pics of the seats they are in my webshots under the black ss album.
