Question Bird door panels into a Camaro?

Can it be done? I own a 94 Z28 and even though I love the looks of the interior and stuff I dont like the door panels.

I've always thought the 'bird door panels were much cooler looking and the ability to stick another speaker on my door without cutting anything is also appealiing.

My question would be, can it be done easily without any major modifications?

It seems to me by comparing the two that the only thing I will need to swap out other than the panels themselves is the switch plates for the power goodies..

Anyone ever done this before?

The firebird panels will fit but they won't line up with the dash, it'll look bad. But you can swap out entire interiors.......

Cool

Yep, it can be done... with a little work. I just test fit a 96TA door panel on my 96SS (your car will be the same) and ran into a couple issues. The biggest is I don't have the necessary plug for the mirror controls. I do know it is going to take a bit of wiring figure out but I don't even have a plug to play with

The panels fit and fit good. All tabs align and the panel fit snugly on the door. However, none of the heavy duty mounting screws align with the Camaro mounting locations. Not only do they not align but in some cases there is an inch or so "air gap" between the panel and the door. So, I'm going to have to rig some mounts and spacers... just tapping the door I don't think will be good enough but I'll have to try later.

I've got the necessary plug coming for the mirror (from salvage yard) but don't have time to mess with the mounting issues so am backing out of this project for today Here are some pics and you'll be able to see what I'm talking about with the mounting areas as well as the plug.

Thanks a bunch Brent! I think Im going to take on this project in the future. Ill have to do some hunting for that plug because around here there are no yards with anything at all.

Plus I gotta compliment you on the color change, Im planning on doing a color change sometime next summer and your coverage with the step by step pictures and info will come in handy , Im just not going to go with Yeller!

If you make any more progress with the panels let me know!

Actually, while I think it would be really neat to have Trans Am door panels and I really do like them, I'm considering just keeping the Camaro door panels and selling the Trans Am door panels I have.

Would you be interested in these? I'll sell them just to get my money back out of them which I'm sure will be less than $150 for both plus shipping. And, that should include the proper plug for the mirror controls! LOL!

SOLD!

The only other question I have is do you have all the other needed hardware?

Oh, also, do you have AIM or one of those IM programs?

I have tried to do this, I bought an entire Ebony TA interior with panels, thinking I could avoid all the problems with power windows, locks and mirrors because my car has no power options. Come to find out the damn window roller hits the tweater spot. And Ebony Firebird door panels with rollup windows are impossible to find! AARRGGH. That and they gave me one grey sail panel on top of that . Definately possible, it is more difficult on 98+ interiors on drivers side, the dash is closer to the door than on the 93-96 Maros.

I've ordered what I believe to be all the other hardware needed. Not sure when I'll get it but I think within the next few days.

I don't have AIM or anything similar... I can't get squat done now. LOL!

Feel free to just shoot me an email bfranker@tampabay.rr.com

Nope no trouble selling them in fact I have a set of lt grey panels that I would sell for like 140 + shipping, I want to convert the interior to Graphite with 97+ gauge pod, console, and seats!
